Pals depressed, sick and hurt after patch.
After the new update all of my pals stay starving, sick, fractured, ulcers. Never had an issue before the patch now everytime I log in they're all hurt. I have tons of food, cotton candy and hot springs. Is anyone else having these issues? My husband and I are both dealing with it.

It's ok. Change is always hard on you and your pals. The best thing to do is support them and keep them happy durin this holiday.

Nah just kidding. Try and put them in storage and then take them out. This update added a lot and change stuff. You may need to dismantle and rebuild a few things if they arent working right since if they aren't eating the pathing for the base might have been meessed up. You can also make meds and manually give it to them or buy them from the small settlement. Hope these suggestions help a bit. It's happened to me a few times during big updates.

I have took them out and put them back in. They eat fine. There is still food in the base. When I leave for 2 minutes and come back they are frozen in place and all starving and sick. I have plenty of hot springs and there is zero reason they should be hurt. They're all moving around the base and working fine when I'm there.

I'm also not the only one with this issue. Everyone I am playing with has the same issue, our server has no mods and is running vanilla settings. I built a new base just to see and they are still doing it.

Yes Ive given them medicine to fully heal and go back and forth between my bases and within 5 minutes of not being at 1 base they are all sick and hurt again. This is an on going issue with anyone playing on our server. Its all vanilla settings and no mods, we were not having any issues at all before the new patch. Whatever it is is something thats happened since and from reading the forums I'm not the only one having these issues considering there are tons of posts about the same thing from others. Theyve clearly broken something. Even taking them out and keeping them in my pal box for days now and theyre not healing the way they were before.

Is...cotton candy the only food option you give them?

Don't get me wrong, the 5 sanity isn't nothing, but are you working the Pals hard? Are they setup to do an awful lot around the base?

You need some serious foods. Pancakes reduces the rate of sanity drain. Make some real food for your Pals. Cotton candy is a nice treat, but not a meal plan.

Pals can also obtain traits that make them more suitable for work. You kinda have to combine both great foods and great traits to get a base thats really chugging through some serious production and grinding 24/7.

A base full of Hot Springs and Cotton Candy, while nice, isn't enough for every circumstance. I view the hot springs as more of an "emergency" measure, where Pals that were overworked and underfed have to retreat for a while, instead of pushing along business as usual.

Updates can bring changes but they can also fix certain mechanics that may not have been working correctly, but in your benefit before.

This is a bug. AFAIK the cause is currently unknown. It doesn't matter if you have thousands of the best foods stockpiled, as when the bug hits, your pals just don't do anything while you're away, so you come back to them starved with 0 sanity.

I'm not sure where youre getting that I said I only have cotton candy. I said "Tons of food, cotton candy, hot springs"

My base has stacks of many different food. Pizzas, Pancakes, Burgers, Cakes etc. No matter what food I have, the pals are still constantly getting sick and hurt. I sit there and watch them sit on top of the food bowl while they are hurt and sick. They are on normal work speed like they have always been. If I am sitting at my base with them after healing they work fine, if I leave for 3 minutes and come back, they are not working and starting to starve, get sick and depressed etc. I keep medicine in the box and they eat it constantly but STILL continue to get sick and depressed. Regardless this happened after the patch as I never had an issue before. Ive rebuilt my base completely and they are still doing it at the new base and its only a 1 story base at the moment with no pathing issues. They broke something with this update.

we all are, nintendo's pulling a legit good team through the mud!

Same. It has nothing to do with pathing and mods.
They just stop working.

I had this issue on the first day but it stopped happening after i moved to a new base, i would often warp back to old base and they kept doing this constant "reset" to pal box, which would cause them to worsen as they literally can't do anything due to the bug, such as starving because they won't eat, san decreasing which as you know starts all the health problems in a snowball effect, etc.

It may have something to do with pre built old bases, as now that hasn't been an issue after moving.

There are a few annoying bugs, as always with new updates and that seems to be one of them.

Try downgrading the game like I did. So far it has worked.

Hit win_key + R and paste the following:

steam://open/console

It'll open a console in your Steam client; after that, paste this in the console and hit enter:

download_depot 1623730 1623731 8851472711009350092

Wait for the download to end; it can take a while since it's downloading the entire game again.

Turn off Auto-updates as well.

Hope it helps/works.

That's actually good advice, thanks for sharing that.

I've actually built a couple really small outposts after the update, with just some basics.. like one, I threw down 3 straw beds, a berry farm, foodbox, hot tub, and 3 small pals that can work the field. And even this new outpost had the bug happen. But on that same note.. out of nowhere, the bug temporarily stopped happening on all 3 of my bases, and the only thing I can think of that I did differently, was changed all of my bases to use small pals, so their pathfinding errors less. It's almost like.. a pathfinding error can propagate to multiple bases.

If this helps the bug was happening every time i went to the new feybreak island, and i moved my base TO a spot on the new island, and that is when it stopped happening completely. probably not the complete remedy but something triggered to "quit it" after that.
