What do I do with new update chests, they say "Locked (requires kindling)" SOLVED

Found a new type of chest on Sakurajima beach, it says "Locked (requires kindling" I tried releasing Suzaku nearby, tried attacking it with Pal fire, tried making a torch and hitting it. The tech tree doesn't have any new items called kindling. Has anyone encountered these?

EDIT: Opened it with Jormuntide Ignis was able to ignite it, but Suzaku didn't do anything. It's either a level 4 kindling thing or my summoning mod was interfering

Just have an active pal with appropriate task and itbwill open for you(you dont need to press anything). For example Blazamut who has kindling will open chest for you which requires kindling.

Ok, so it was actually just Suzaku not doing anything, Jormuntide Ignis worked so maybe it requires lvl. 4 kindling or it just bugged out

For me it also worked for Blazamut which has lvl. 3 kindling. Probably bug I experienced few bugs when I was playing.

Tried a Relaxasaurus Lux LVL 3 elec no go, Used an Orzerk LVL 4 elec, worked on a locked elec chest

Hmmm interesting, my Suzaku eventually worked on a different kindling chest so it seems to be a little buggy

I was able to open a Watering chest with a (Lucky) Celeray, so it might just be they need to be close and long enough for it to register

Has anyone gotten anything good out of them? All the one's I've opened give me a low amount of early game materials even the chests in high level areas. Only good thing I've gotten have been a handful of dog coins sometimes.

I've only found one so far (watering) but it contained a water skill fruit so I assumed they're all gonna be like that (something related to the type you use to open it)

If you're still using mods maybe they interfere with the drop tables?

you have to throw the pal at the chest. "assigning" it to it, like at your camp. i had a normal vanyrm, lv 1 kindling open the chest.

The game gets a little confused if you have the pal already out. Most likely you were flying on suzaku so you had him out already. switch him out then back in and it'll work

yeah, this is exactly true. if you withdraw your Suzaku and send him back out it should work every time

no, they give pretty basic "chest" stuff. each chest also gives a healthy amount of the pal drop associated with the element, so kindling chests have flame organs, watering chests have pal fluids. Flame organs and fluids are ranchable, but ice/electric organs aren't, so knowing you'll get 10ish of them can be nice (especially since I'm playing on a fully random world, so just farming a single enemy type for drops isn't really possible)
