(I've played for like >250 hours and I still haven't beaten the new Feybreak boss, I got close last attempt but I need to do some slight optimizations to my equipment and team first)
since feybreak release i have an extra 100hours and still going up
That being said depending on how you play your mileage will differ. Turning Exp rates down will extend the life of the game and once you've gotten a handle on the game there's a randomizer mode and hardcore you can run (at the same time if you really want to suffer).
Overall - it is more of a sandbox with elements of indirect story (although, probably the main reason for this is early access, and the plot, perhaps, has not been given much attention yet, except for hidden logbooks).
However, you have a goal - there are several islands and each has its own local boss, which you are kind of offered to defeat. This is your goal at the moment, which sets the motivation to progress. So yes, there is progression here too.
The game has enough content to keep you busy with exploration and development for many hours. Although, to be honest, most of it is based on hard grinding and just drags out your time - BUT, at the same time, the game has a flexible difficulty setting, in which you can personally (if you play solo) set the game the way you like it. For example, you can increase the amount of resources mined, or experience gained, if you do not like the drawn-out development in this direction. Even make your enemies or yourself stronger or weaker. And thus you can flexibly customize quite a lot of elements of the game for yourself.
The most fun you'll probably have is in the first 100 hours of the game, when you don't know anything yet (and I highly recommend not using the wiki to spoil content for yourself). After that, the game will either hook you and you'll enjoy the grind, or the game will choke you and you'll either be forced to change your difficulty settings or go online and look up things you don't know yet to make your grind less overwhelming.
you could check both games wiki for the technology to available.
overall i d want palworld to make expansion packs instead of entirely new games, i simply get attached to some of my lugheads
