Start with berries when you have nothing else. Then upgrade to salads when you unlock tomatoes and lettuce since it feeds more and provides a work speed bonus. Then upgrade to Minestrone once you have carrots, potatoes, and onions for even better satiety and work speed bonus.
Edit: I seem to have made my post advocating for Pizza at the same time as someone saying to avoid Pizza. Hrm. I can see their point but wouldn't that be offset by things like the one Wave Generator and having an emotional support Shroomer/Shroomer Noct to help with Sanity loss?
I too recommend Pizza
I'm producing much more food than my Pals consume so I can even sell 2-5k each real life day for some extra cash.
Never had sanity issues either on regular workload.
Thanks
Likewise, you'll need the necessary farm fields and good enough Pals to work them, water them, and harvest them. AND you'll also need a Pal to keep the food preserved so you don't lose as much to gradual item decay.
Having at LEAST a Lullu and Prunelia to man the farm fields is a good way to start given their passive ability. This is especially so if you can breed them with appropriate traits to increase their overall Work Speed alongside buffing them up with the Statue of Power.
Look, you still wont need no more than two farms of berries to keep a full base working without any human intervention, the bonuses aren't that great and if you don't want to micro all the cooking just forget about it and let them have some berries.
Staying full for longer is not a good thing.
For base pals, we go for foods that increase work speed, so they get their jobs done faster.
Despite what the tooltips say, the work speed buff on all of these foods is +30% and it lasts 10 minutes.
And that is the problem.
With pizza, most of your pals will not be hungry again within 10 minutes, causing the work speed buff to fall off.
The best food for base pals still is salad:
- +30% work speed buff
- medium nutrition value, guaranteeing your pals will be hungry again within 10 minutes
- no stay full for longer
Cooked berries (until I can get good egg production and cooking stove).
Fried Eggs (until Wheat).
Jam Bread (until Tomatoes).
Omelettes (until Lettuce).
Salads from then on.
(I may have Fried Eggs and Jam Bread backwards in the order, I can't remember)
However, the Feybreak update added a bunch of new crops, so I haven't had a chance to figure out a new scale yet.
salad for bases your not gonna stay for long. like the mining base and stuff since it's cheap.
for main base go with pizza for both the base and you the player until you can cook minestrone or mushroom quiche
minestrone is salad but better.
mushroom quice is pizza but better.
i prefer pizza and Mushroom quice so my player character and team dos not eat a lot + i make sure my pal SAN is at it best all ready with max or close to max work speed passive. so more work speed for me pointless.
but i will not deny that salad and minestrone are REALLY CHEAP TO MAKE. so all to there a lot of opinion here it only depend what you prefer.
do you like cheap + work speed.
or
do you like less time for eating for more work in the long term.
