There was Admin / Dev codes to add exp and items and spawn stuff but those have bene permanently removed form Public game release.
They may add creative in the future if its request ed enough i don't think they have said anything on that front.
What you can do is set rates so radically high in single player world that exp and items and weight limits are a laughable factor.
That said, building materials are so abundant, that inside your base radius, it might as well be Creative mode for building.
you can increase damage your character does, while greatly reducing how much everything else does, reduce the number of hostiles, and even reduce pals altogether.. (granted that also works against you, because there would be less for you to catch and also to gather stuff from them)
you can also make items like trees and mining spots drop multiple times more resources then normal.
you can also give yourself i believe around 10 times normal xp, so you would gain levels fairly quickly just from picking up resources and maybe building a couple things.
but also, if you just want to build i wouldn't really consider this the best game for it.. the build area around you get for each base is rather limited.
