Lvl60 oil rig is far too difficult
So - anyone who's tried the new oil rig near Feybreak. Probably know how absolutely brutal it was. Is it even possible for a solo or a small group?

Blueprinted Hexolite armor, laser minigun, and a really good grenade launcher, me and 2 other people. It was an absolute SLOG to get through a majority of the sections.
Enemies - absolute bullet sponges to the point where it takes entire magazines worth of ammo to defeat them, and pretty much we all had pals that were maxed out or close to it. And not to mention the final boss when you loot the last crate, over 1 million HP and has damage resistance stacked on top of that, and it sits in a position above the player, making it usually un-targetable. (Also had issues with enemies being able to hit us through walls, but that's another problem outside of game balance)

Go ahead, say it's a skill issue. I get that there needs to be something very challenging. I'll just say anyone who knows me knows I'm a fan of roguelikes, in most cases they're challenging, but fair. This isn't even challenging to the point where it's fun, nor is it fair. It's just crazy difficulty, especially considering the jump from level 55 to level 60.

I know Pocketpair likely created this with the aim of pleasing large groups who complained that the level 55 oil rig was too much of a pushover, and I get that, but just know that a majority of the playerbase is either solo players or people who don't play in small groups, and I'm honestly doubting that this is even doable for a group of my size (2-4 players).

This is a THIRD PERSON OPEN WORLD game. We do not need MMO-raid level of difficulty here. I'm sure even if the enemies here had half the amount of HP that they do it'd still be hard but perfectly doable.

Anyways, rant over. Pocketpair, if you're reading this, PLEASE tune down the level of frustrating difficulty. It's just way too much.

By the way, if anyone could enlighten me to how they managed to do it, please do. And I'd like to know how many players there was.

Enemies are way too tanky, way too much damage, never miss a shot, pals can't help at all, and the attack chopper has all of these problems and stays annoyingly directly above you at 200 feet away at all times so you have massive damage falloff.

I boosted my damage to 5x and dropped the enemy damage to 1/5 and still found it to be an un-enjoyable slog. And my final reward was a green schematic? That's just rude.
Mind you I don't think that we should have to play on such crazy boosted rates like that to have a chance at succeeding (especially considering that it'd make the rest of the game literal child's play at that point).

Also I should mention that we ALL had 25% damage boost buffs from food as well.
reward is also not worth it I get better rewards from expeditions and that just involves AFKing for 40 minutes

Is it me, or are the pals there blast resistant? I shot one of the guys there at the rig right in the face with an rpg, and it did like no damage.

On the lv 55 oil rig, they get 1 tapped by the rpg.

I think this is the majority opinion. Even though the enemies are only 5 levels higher than the next highest oil rig, they do twice the damage and have like 10 times the HP. Feels like players need at least another 5 levels before it's a fair difficulty.

The helicopter is also just not fun to fight because it's so high up that pals can't reach it and even players can only hit it from specific angles, so it forces you into a hit-and-run fighting style that takes forever because of how monstrous its HP is.

I was going to reiterate on that part. Probably the worst designed element of the attack heli is the fact that it sits right above you, rather than flying more like how the patrol heli does in Rust.
Actually if it took cues out of the heli boss fight from Half-Life 2, where it maintains various attack patterns but stays within distance that you can shoot it down, it'd be way more fun.

No it's because the enemies here have 70k+ HP. The Crushers have over 150 thousand HP.
I just ran it 4 times on normal player dmg setting (1x) then on the 5th run i was like this always takes forever to fully clear(max stats with potions ,legendary advanced bow , leg rocket launcher , leg plasma cannon , leg grenade launcher , normal lightweight hexo armor and hexo helm with best shield , 4 fully condensed vanguard gobfin , buff food)

so i left , switch to 5x dmg and now it way more manageable ammo and time wise , while still being able to die if you over aggro or dont avoid attacks ...

You have world settings -.-
If you're playing on an official server, then tough luck.

My secret is felbat hp regen, and gathering all of them to get 1 rocket launcher blast AOE damage. 3 gobfin and 25% attack food. One shot and my HP is regen to full while all enemies went below 50% HP. 2 shots and 3-5 enemies are dead. The average player took 15-20 rocket shots to kill 3-5 one by one, I took 2.

Keep gliding around, kite them. Group them. They hardly attack most of the time when they are running. Lose some health and gain them back on next shot.

The problem is the crazy overtuned HP that the enemies have, even in a perfect scenario where you can get a bunch of enemies clumped up like that, with nearly 300 attack and a good rocket launcher, it took far more than 2 rockets to take down an enemy.

And there's the problem right there. If it takes such crazy equipment to even have a *chance* of beating it, that's bad game balance.
Really would like to know how you beat the attack heli, since that thing just tears my max-level, max rank, fully-stacked-on-souls-pals to utter pieces.

Doesn't everyone just stay under cover and fire their 100+ guided missiles out an opening and watch the bar go down to 0? Why would anyone use pals against a flying entity which is far higher than the AI can even react to.

That's part of the issue. That's terrible game design. (unless that's the point you're trying to make)

Oil rigs are clearly not balanced yet to even use pals on due to how much the AI bugs out on what to aggro.

Also if you read the guys comment he already has all the legendary schematics that only drop from the 60 oil rig and trust me you can do it without any weapons that are 60 oil rig only, especially if you are running it with x4 or x5 dmg.

All you need is the rocket launcher + multi or the non multi rocket launcher in order to clear the oil rig, Both of these can be accquired prior to doing the 60 oil rig on top of that if you are breeding Jetdragon´s and you do not have the legendary rocket launcher you should consider butchering all the alpha ones that you get via eggs for the schematic.

If you have player dmg at x5 you will be 1 shotting all the mobs on the oil rig apart from the bigger fatter ones and then ofc the attack helicopter if you have the legendary rocket launcher. Mind you if you have blue + rocket launcher you can still clear the oil rig just takes a lot longer.

Ofc I still think it is terrible due to the fact it is not viable to use pals on any oil rig on top of that with my desired difficulty settings (hard which also nerfs player dmg) it took me almost over and hour to clear the oil rig. After that I just ran it with increased player dmg and if your goal is to only get the big chest I have done it in under 6mins.

Fullclears are a waste of time the legendary light hexolite armor has a 0.0125% chance to drop from the chests around the oil rig. If your aim is a armor you are better of setting the meteor/supply drop to 1 in world settings. Not only can you get the other hexolite armor versions at legendary from doing that they have a higher drop rate from the supply drops.

Yeah I checked the PalDB site with the detailed stats and that meteor/supply event has 5x more chance of having the best armor. It also takes like 10 seconds to clear the Minions so there is no reason to go through the Oil Rig at all.
