If i recall there is a tool that can transfer character data from one world to another but i don't think it will transfer a base. I have never used it personally so i am unsure how it works. I imagine the Server host would have to import the data to their world after you export character data.
That's the official servers that do a monthly wipe.
If your private dedicated server wipes, it's strictly because the company you paid shut it down or suffered a global data loss, at which point you get to tell them off royally.
But also, you could just set your single-player game to multiplayer mode, invite your friends to join, and you guys can play together (as long as the host is online).
The save remains on your PC, meaning even if your friends aren't around, you can even play on the side.
Similar to how Stardew Valley's multiplayer works.
We moved provider once and players lost their map exploration progress - didn't know they could restore that too back then.
If you rent the server, you get to decide if you want to reset progress.
Private servers never reset all progress randomly, been playing with privately hosted since launch. All cloud server providers offer backup as well, I set mine to once a day. Never had to restore from backup and game plays fine. Bisect hosting does automatic restarts every 3 hr, and the server is back up within a minute with a second of rollback. Plenty of warnings before the server restarts itself.
