how do i fully automate my bases? having trouble with that.
i have said before that this game isn't made with full automation right now, but that might just be because I'm not doing something right.

the problems i'm having is food production and distribution and resources moved from work stations to chests, i want cooked food to be taken from cooking pots to the feeder box, but it seems that having a freezer causes the pals to automatically move cooked food to there instead.

then anything from a furnace or a logging station or really anything that's not out in the open doesn't get moved, its very frustrating.

The only thing that can be automated is the initiation of crafting stuff, meaning you'll have to push the buttons to tell your pals to make something.

Walk up to any container and you can press C to change the chest settings. This lets you choose what is and isn't allowed in something, so you could disallow food being put in the freezer if you desire.

Other stations will have their items moved if you allow your pals to move it, or it's something that automatically allows it like a logging site/stone pit/etc. These things, however, are low priority. Your pals will only bother moving stuff from them if they have no other tasks to perform in the base, so have more pals with the transport skill will allow them to catch up and deal with those stations. Having a transport pal that works through the night can help with that.

i see, so they can move stuff from logging sites and stone pits.

what about the furnace? is that also a low priority?

From what I've seen, they seem to focus on stuff laying on the ground. Trying to keep the base tidy by putting away any wood, rocks, and harvested crops first. Probably to stop the game from getting cluttered by thousands of items on the ground that can disappear over time, whereas items sitting in a station are safe and not taking up cycles on your processor.

then how do i keep pals from mining and chopping down everything? because even when i assign then to stations, they eventually stop and then go around and take down the rocks and tree's around the base

Best you can do is build a base at locations where there is nothing within your base's radius, or place things in the spawn locations of those rocks and trees to stop them from spawning.
Far as I can tell, currently there's nothing you can build that would let you mine Paldium Fragments, so the only source of em is those natural formed rocks (mostly provides stone but low chance of ore or Paldium) or the blue veined rocks. Every other mineable rock has a buildable mine for it.

Other than that, you can just build foundation (or other building) over every spawn location of tree and rock to stop them from reappearing.

you make that with the crusher and you use regular stones

And refrigerated crusher to turn ore into even more paldium.

forgot that bit, thanks though
A) lay platforms down to make the base as flat as possible. this serves 2 purposes: prevents trees and rocks from regrowing (once you have access to mines from boss unlocks you dont need ore or coal nodes), and makes it easier for pals to navigate. Since the debris wont return, it forces pals to focus on tasks you set.

B) monitoring stand and forcing pals to not do a certain task type (or by throwing them onto the place directly) will make life easier. Forcing a pal to focus only on tasks you desire will prevent them from wasting time cleaning (you will need dedicated transport pals to not clutter up the base)

c) Either set a dedicated chest or take time setting up chest settings. I did this with the food bowl so that i only need a refridgerator for ingrediants as the food bowl will hold only processed food. An example of the first would be 2 ranchs set side by side. If you place a chest between the two, all non perishables from the ranch will naturally go there, alongside any items found around that area (logs, stones, pal eggs, etc). You can do this with ANY building that produces something that pals can carry.

And Finally, D) If a building requires you to choose the task (example being ovens or furnaces or conveyor belts), you can check the box right above produce that will allow pals to transport the items. I cant tell if its per item or per station itself, but i can select cakes to not be transported so that i can pick them up myself and they dont accidentally go to the food bowl and get eaten.

Simply put; with good planning and learning how the ai works, you can manipulate them to do your bidding. With these tips, i made a base that is farmland and cooking heavy and allows me to just set commands to keep things going.

thats a lot of micro managing in the begining, i wish there was a way to assign tasks from the pal console, it would be a lot less of a headache.

but ill try this, will have to start a new game since my base is already established.
btw do you first make a second or third platform before making the pal expedition station? that thing is HUGE
you can assign specific pals to specific jobs with the "monitoring station"
it's still not 100% but they do better at sticking to the right job that way.....
as for random trees or rocks they go after instead, you can just build a pillar or other small object in the spot to keep it from spawning again, since there are plenty of things to build anyway, i just put pal beds, chests, any thing i needed to build anyway over the spots trees normally spawn and the rocks in my main base.

you can change a LOT in the settings, i don't remember if there is a way to change how often stuff respawns, you can change how much it takes to mine / chop it down and how much resources you get, so could set it so it is real easy to process and only drops a few pieces, then if the pals do decide to go after natural trees or rocks it won't distract them for long.
