Where do I find Ancient Civilization Cores?
Wiki page says they're on the Oil Rig, but I've done that many times and never received one. I'm guessing that info is out of date.

It's on the 55+ Oil Rig in the big chest or do Feybreak tower and do the expeditions.

Higher level expeditions and bosses spawned from the Summoning Circle are a reliable source.

Okay, I'm finally going to ask:

I know that there are at least two Oil Rigs, the original one that's in the ocean off of Marsh Island and the Level 30 "Barge" one that got added that's near the Penking sealed realm.

Are these the only two, or did they add another one?

There is another, due west of the southern section of Feybreak.

they added a lvl 60 one, everythings an hp sponge so if you do it and are in multiplayer, do it with other people or bring thousands of ammunition for every weapon you use
summoning bosses is so annoying so I've just been running the sakurajima expedition as nonstop as I've been able to and almost gotten 100 cores JUST from that after two days. yeah its slow but you can just set it and go do other stuff while its doing its thing

You can have more than one expedition station by the way, max one per base but that also means you CAN have one in every base to multitask them.
This is what I am stuck on at the moment, lvl 42 and I just want to get the glasses that allow me to see stats for breeding, but that means I have to either;
  • Beat a lvl 50 boss and slowly grind out cores through expeditions
  • Go to an oil rig where I get 4 shot by every enemy, with turrets that don't even allow me to fly without getting 1-tapped
  • Do dozens of dungeons hoping for slab drops, to get a bunch of slab pieces, to get 5 boss summoning items, to fight a boss that teleport around my base with a laser that destroys many of my structures quickly. The boss isn't hard, just extremely tedious, with way too much health and my base being the primary victim.

Why did they design it this way? Most games that have pet/monster breeding allow you to see or easily calculate these stats for free, it seems *extremely* counter-intuitive to give the player access to breeding at lvl 19 but lock one of the core features to breed well behind a system seemingly designed for tedium.

You can defeat basic raid (Bellanoir) with 30-40 lvl pals.

Yes, that was option 3 I listed.

Edit: The main problem I have is the insane amount of effort you have to put in for such a simple component that you need *many* of for certain structures/items(5 ancient cores for each electric incubator?). You have to go out and farm dungeons to get the slabs, that get used each boss attempt, to get a single item. I have cleared 20+ dungeons and only received 8/20 slab fragments needed to make a single pair of glasses/incubator. Compared to the rest of the game's technology or building cost so far, how is this considered acceptable?

What you do is use one of your extra bases for Raid fights: set up Pal Beds so if any get knocked out, one of the others can drag them to a bed for a relatively quick revival.

The issue is deciding on where to set up your Raid base: I've got my intended one on the beach behind the starting spawn, but I'm thinking I might move it somewhere else.

i just completely ignored the electric incubators because at the time the only way to get the cores was to kill the boss and i wasn't interested in doing that 100 times to make a couple incubators. with this new update though I've been running the expedition as much as possible and have two of the large electric incubators now plus almost to 60 cores to make hubby and I the newest shield...after i get that done THEN i can finally make those stupid glasses

also the expedition now gives summoning slabs as well

Yes, that is true. I find it more acceptable once finding out that sanctuary chests drop them like candy as well.

I still think the system for getting cores is janky, they should either;
  • Not be required by crafting early on(lvl 30-45), at least outside of 1 cost structures/items, and weighted more towards later techs(or have bellanoir have a chance to drop more than 1 at least)
  • Have low drop chances from the marsh oil rig, or low chance through dungeons/random base raids
  • Be craftable somehow with ancient civ parts, maybe with refined ingots/electronics
