i just build a chest out side my base for my use
So there are two pages of chest settings. One is to disallow specific item categories, the one you are using. The other page is security settings, such as locking & password protecting the chest. One of those settings does prevent Pals from using that particular chest, I just don't recall specifically which one does as haven't used it in a while as I've found just restricting item categories works better for me overall.

I don't think the locking works for pals, since they would still put things into the chest. I think that's just for players in particular. But I'll double check later.

nvm I found the setting. The person right below me posted a screenshot of the exact setting
jeez, and what if i want to have a shared container with my friends that pals do not touch ?

right now, have to enable all the checkboxes, dump items, then disable all checkboxes....stupid as f.

Just don't have the shared box near your pal deposits? They take things to the nearest valid box.
yes yes of course they do, how about honey (ingredient) not even being delivered to a fridge valid for ingredients.

There are so many annoying things with automated item management its unreal. Build a comfy living space for players, log in after a day and the containers are full with junk, wow.

Wanna have a personalised chest near your bed but thats also shared with your friends if they need something ? Cool, time to tick checkboxes on and off.

THIS IS RIDICULOUS.

Honey doesn't spoil, why would you want it in a fridge? Pals do not put honey in the fridge due to it not having a spoil timer, it's been that way since EA launch.

It doesn't sound like this game is for you if basic base management upsets you this much.
I dont care for spoilage of anything, I care for sane item management.
Do you not keep your honey in the cupboard with your other food? Do you put it in the bathroom like a lunatic?

because it blocks anything you disabled, thats no devs fault thats the setting you set.
Leave it on yourself or outside the base perimiter if you don't want them to access it

The storage system does suck tho needs some reorganisation of what constitutes what groups

ie food ingredients are the same as some building/pal ingredients

and the stupid pals dont drop into chests logically they just randomly put them 1 in this chest 1 in another chest. not to mention trying to find that one thing and having to look at every chest to find it cause there's no search

Agreed
and to your build them a comfy area and what do they do? sleep on the floor or on a chest
Have you stopped to think for a moment?
Maybe, just maaaybe, you're selecting what can and can not be stored to the chest and not who can or can not store something there?

"Private lock enabled" lists specifically that Pals will not be able to store items into the chest after the option has been enabled (notwithstanding items currently being transported).
