Mod that undoes Pal sphere throw removal
So totally respect PocketPair for protecting themselves (and thus the game and the community), but we should look toward creating a mod as a community that adds this functionality back in.

To protect whoever publishes it from Nintendo what we could do is insulate it such that it is not technically published by anyone. The way we could do this is to conduct a sale of the rights to an LLC with a tiny valuation, maybe a few hundred dollars. The person who owns this LLC will nominally be responsible for the conduct of business, but not personally liable since what you could do is have "shareholders" with a 1-10 dollar stake in the company(we could register somewhere with lax business laws such as the Bahamas or Bermuda), and this LLC could own a domain which hosts the mod.

If Nintendo were to sue it wouldn't be worth the money as the LLC would simply file bankruptcy and the individual who is the "CEO" would not be personally liable as it is not a private company, and Nintendo can enjoy the $500-600 worth of "assets" and documents for a $10000-25000 legal fee.

You would have to be careful and read the laws very closely, but I am assuming you could then reform and do the exact same thing with different individuals.

Essentially, the LLC makes it so that Nintendo can never crush it without literally wasting thousands of dollars.

There is a massive major update coming to the game on the 23rd

Making a mod that works now then breaks in a week doesn't make much sense

My guess is modders are waiting for the massive version release first

Oh yeah, just a thought. I am not pushing anyone, just suggesting an idea that would protect people from a certain video game comp-*cough* law firm.

Plus, I know some C++ and Python, but never tried modding Palworld, and most of my modding has been in the Factorio scene which is simpler

Its possible they have some "Legally distinct" fix to add in when the update hits. Maybe we use a "ball launcher" or something that suddenly makes it totally different from pokemon?

There is already a mod that kind of restores the functionality, but they couldn't bring the trowing animation back and don't plan to.
This mod allows you to summon your pal where your aiming reticle is pointed, so you can summon at a distance again.

As or the LLC idea, not gonna happen. Too much hassle to and bureaucracy goes into that and Sony already made a deal with PocketPair anyway. That's really why Nintendo is suing I think, because Sony got involved and plans to market PalWorld with all kinds of merch, an anime, and the whole nine yards with it. And Sony and Nintendo are long time bitter rivals.

No, such mod would have the modder be sued as well, no one will do this publicy

I am NOT any form of legal expert but I don't think they can sue a modder for restored content.

Else there is a whole slew of "cutting room floor" mods for other games that would be in trouble.

They absolutely can, since the cut content is the subject of the ongoing lawsuit. By restoring it the modder then becomes complicit in breaking the patent. General cutting room floor mods aren't a problem because that cut content isn't infringing on anything.

I always trust people on the steam forums with legal advice for other countries.

A lawsuit in JAPAN. Specifically Japan, any other country is exempt from this, the Japanese government is just extremely corrupt.

Hasn't stopped Nintendo from going after people the world over before, but if you want to be the one to stick your neck out by testing it by all means.
didnt a modder already get sued becuase he added ash or something to a game as a mod and was forced to take it down?

It was pokemon models ripped straight from the games.
It wasn't because they used their likeness they literally took the models from S&S I believe and put them into the game.

well that't the claim, made by one guy on the internet, who later admitted to falsifying details in order to damage this game.

Instead of it being a sphere where the modder can get sued, let it be a gun that shoots what looks like glowing energy, but still has trajectory arcs like throwing the sphere did. No more throw mechanic, and Nintendo are too much of pansies to ever put any kind of gun in their Pokemon games.
