Then put more off to the sides, dividing the base into halves, with ramps leading over the walls (so my Pals can quickly get over the walls and attack the boss), and gates that will only be closed before summoning the boss.
And of course, platforms higher up so I can quickly run up them and snipe the boss from high up.
Regular walls get smashed very quickly.
That's why Defensive Walls are needed (I assume that's what you're referring to).
When I fought Bellanoir, I also realized I need to go two layers thick on the central defensive walls, as the boss eventually broke through one of the central walls and was attacking the Palbox.
(Thankfully, it was very low on HP by then, and I barely took it down in time)

And yeah, if a foundation or pillar breaks, anything it supported above will auto-break as well.
It's why I put the Palbox on the ground, so it at least has a chance. Even if it's annoying to work on installing foundations around it.
Also... at least on my PC, most of that fight was a slideshow.
Turns out, 15 attackers plus me equals a lot of lag. Especially if you're dumb enough to use a meteor rocket launcher to try and stun the boss.
It took me a hot minute to even register that one of the central walls had been broken through and the boss was now attacking the Palbox.
Sounds like your last option is similar to my idea.
The more barriers it has to go through is more time you have to take down the boss.
Especially if you play on higher difficulty. Would be cool to have something that allow building in base to "level up" or to get less damages in raids.
Not sure if we can make it sturdier in the world setting... I know we can for building outside base (but it's only the damage over time) but inside base i don't see it.
Yes, a separate base for summoning is definitely needed.
I remember my first experience of summoning, when I didn't know yet... and summoned Bellanoir at a regular base. It's good that it wasn't my main base, because there was almost nothing left of it. I learned this lesson quickly
Yes. I saw in the world settings the factor of receiving damage to buildings - but... I don't see any interest in it for myself yet.
I don't have a lot of lag... but because of these effects and the darkness falling, I often just lose sight of the boss and don't understand where I need to shoot. It's pure chaos...
Yeah... it looks like that.
