New player. Have a question about mods.
To my knowledge this is mostly peer to peer, with the option of having private servers.

I don't really intend to play with anyone who doesn't already know I'm using mods. Just don't know how up tight they are on it.

Basically I'm only using one mod of consequence, that changes the grappling hook to shoot farther and not have a cool down.

It doesn't shoot across the map or something, just longer than the default setting.

"That's cheating, why do it?!" My philosophy is that at a certain point, flying mounts become effectively mandatory. I'd rather them feel more like an option, or situational resource. This mildly reduces the need for flying mounts to get around.

Yeah it would broke af in pvp, but I don't pvp.

Anyway, I'm not looking for anyone to be delighted about my use of a mod, I'm just asking if there's anything rigid in place.

So, what is the question, actually?..
I still don't see the question.
I still don’t understand.

If the question is how people in general would feel about mods in the game - I suppose if you're only going to play with people who are notified, I don't see a problem at all.

If you want to play with a mod online with strangers... I think it's better not to, just in case. People are different.
Even if you get approval from a few people here on the forum, there are still a ton of people who simply haven't responded or don't know.

If you ask me personally (though I don't play online specifically in Palworld for a number of completely different reasons), then if I were playing, I wouldn't be against mods that don't significantly affect the game mechanics, unless it's a PvP server.
Although, I would like to know what mods players on the server are using, just to be in the know (maybe in that case I'll want to have some myself :meephappy: ).

The question is if they have a hard policy on banning anyone who uses mods. They don't have a security checker like some (awful) games do, and the fact that mods exist seems to tell the tale.

Remnant 2's developer publicly stated "you bought the game, it's not pvp, play it how ever the F you want", this regarding mods, most notably one involving the dev's choice to limit trait bonuses, they were asked about their position on a mod that removed the trait cap, they said they were aware of the mod, and if anyone wants the cap removed, they're welcome to use it, because the dev team wasn't going to change the cap.

I won't use it in a setting without all party consent, I'm not concerned about other players, I'm more interested on the developer's history regarding them. If it's peer to peer they would have to go out of their way to ban a player, but some companies are really ana... up tight about it and will make the reach around the back to scratch the elbow no matter how minor the itch.

The official servers are the only ones they can ban you from, and very few people use those.
So, you might want to avoid those if you're using mods (or just avoid them in general, especially as they will reset and wipe progress every month)

Otherwise, on a dedicated server of yours or especially single-player... it's yours to do whatever you want.

Mods on official servers are a no-no, but other than that anything goes.

Go talk with the people you plan to play with and ask them what they think.

If you're playing alone then what mods or cheats you use are your business. Stop worrying about what others might think about how you've adjusted the experience.
