Chromite and Hexolite farming
TLDR: Any chromite farming tips?

Does anyone else find it exceedingly annoying to farm chromite?
You need large amounts of it endgame, particularly to make hexolite for the weapons and ammo.

It can only be found in caves and dungeons, and you can only carry a small amount each time before you hit carrying capacity and go back to base.

The back and forth for the farming is really annoying for me and honestly I might just stick to blowing everything up with rockets.

Yes get surfent terra their ez to catch when ur at that point ur getting chromite they reduce weight of ores , have a dedicated weight team helps cause my weight carrin is over 2400 also having smokie to get more out of your chromite farms also Silvegis cave has 4 deposits and a teleport sadly that portion of the game is definitaly the time grind between pall infusion to get their skills up and my pain is really the hexolite 12 per 1 bar is brutal for only get so much from one crystal out put with no way or really increasing the ammount via pals and sadly xenogaurd needs a buff to be also hexolite quarts rather than the just base quartz

Maybe they should add a technology that unlocks a chromite alloy in the colossal furnace. For example, smelting hexoquartz and palluminium.

Currently, chromite is too scarce for the amounts of hexolite you need in ammunition and spheres. There is no specific area that I have seen where there are enough deposits of this mineral and where a mining base can be established.

chromite is very ez to get just max starred smoky and have it out when u mine chromite like in silvegis cave or splatterina cave. should be like 400 per cave run if you do this.

hexolite, just make ur base around meta 2 node spots and afk forevaaaaa. i think there is only one spot with 3 hexolite nodes but i havent been playing

Yes - as mentioned, so far the best passive way to get hexolite is probably to set up a base near the ore seams. At least 2. For 3, you really need to check the internet to find out for sure.
For manual hexolite mining I use old good Digtoise. But if you can really produce tons of rockets, I guess you really can just blow them up! :meephappy:

As for hexolite, you either go into the dungeons with a metal detector (it's more common in dungeons than on the surface). Or you defeat Bjorn and send non-stop expeditions to that area, as passive mining (which is what I do, because I'm too lazy to search myself while I'm doing other less or more fun stuff).

To kinda reduce your weight issues, use the Grappling gun or mount Tarantriss. Grappling or web moving will allow you to quickly carry tons of weight out of dungeons if you don't want to find ways to increase your weight limit.

1. fast travel near the silvergis cave, get the 4 nodes, use a thundercloud to get out
2. in a dungeon, drop the chromite near the exit location every time you run out of weight. then grab it all before leaving and thundercloud out

Another thought for single player games that many will flame but oh well,

In the game options screen set item weight to 0. Yes, going the 'cheat' route, but it *is* an option, even if it's a crappy one.

if you set supply drops in world options to lowest drops contain chromite. i often hit bottleneck getting hexolite. I have a 4 star smokey pal and his dig feature is kind of lame, constantly have to click dig and hope a nod pops up, they are often difficult to see even with the tiny flag. If smokey maybe changed colors when chromite was found he would turn green, it would be really nice if after he found some he would actually run to it dig it up and it be placed in inventory.

Unlock the homeward bound clouds or whatever they are called. Then you can get over encumbered and be warped back to your nearest base (doesn't work in dungeons, but will in caves like Shield Dragon is in)

Dogen I think does that as well, so maybe build one of them up.

Unlock Homeward Thundercloud, make at last one for farming (it is consumable) and during dungeons etc get all chromite close to exit. Then grab chromite, exit dungeon and teleport to base.

It does, it's a reusable thundercloud on a timer, max condense is about a 12-15 min cooldown

This is wrong, i find chromite outside of caves and dungeons all the time.

About going back to base, i put down a palbox anywhere for a quick teleport to base and back. When i return i destroy it so i can put it up again when i need to. If i dont want to go back i can destroy it remotely from the map.

Xenovader increases damage to all ore nodes, its 50% at level 1 and 100% at max through condensing. You can fly around 1 shotting quartz nodes with rockets and scoop them up.

I plan on making a surfent terra mining squad. I've already got hundreds of cakes in storage so I can get a few of them to 2 stars so that's 48% with 4 of them, nearly the 50% it would be with 5.

Thanks everyone but my annoyance was not finding the chromite itself but back and forth between base and farm..

yeah i just got lazy and set item weight to 0 so i can farm it all at once, I dont got all that time to go back and forth.

Thanks anyway guys!

If you don't like traveling a lot, I highly recommend a Dogen for its teleport ability.

My route was to go to any overworld boss cave, rocket every node for quick mining, grapple to all of the dropped ore if I'm at capacity, warp back, and repeat. This finished off my exp grind with the bosses so it meshed with my needs nicely.

Dungeons felt like a waste of time unless the one right beside my base happened to be open, and even then I often opted to ignore it unless I felt like gambling for a book.

The hexolite/chromite farming is one of the most tedious thing in this game so I'm not surprised you took the sane way out. Hopefully they touch upon it later, beyond making work stations for them.
