Are Gobfins that OP?
Just thinking out loud.
What's your opinion on the 4 Gobfins + something build?

I find it very effective, but also very boring. However, no matter how much I try to find other strong builds, I always come back to Gobfins when it comes to hard versions of tower bosses.

They are too good that it just doesn't motivate me to use anything else. Or have I just not seen a better alternative yet?
I tried to look at Robinquill as an alternative because they increase crit damage - but the big downside is that they have to be summoned. Also I initially thought that their passive worked like Gobfins and stacked to give huge crit damage for 4 Robinquills - but unfortunately that's not work like that.
Then I even tried to breed the ideal Elizabee with 4 Beegarde combo to buff her. But in practice, this also turned out to be much less effective against tower bosses than just Gobfins team.

So - do you use Gobfins?
Do you think Gobfins need a nerf?
Or do other options need a buff?
Or is there some other special OP build that you use?
What do you think about it?

Personally I use what's fun. I still have an attacking pal or two and some support pals, but I don't care if it's a gobfin or not. They definitely aren't necessary outside of challenge runs.
You could also just increase player damage by 40-60% in the world settings to make up for not having gobfins so you can allow yourself the freedom of using something else.

That's understandable.
And most of the time you can use what you want.
I mean - in general. When it comes to serious battles, it's the juiciest and laziest option, which seems to leave no alternatives. And it seems addictive.

This is not a criticism, however, or propaganda of Gobfins over any other pals. It's just a thought.
weak men use goblins

real men become goblins

Yes. Reasoning being, later in the game, weapon DPS outpaces pal DPS. Pal DPS generally only ever has one pal doing damage as well, with the exception of dots and cycling pals for faster cooldowns.

By comparison, gobfins contribute while not being summoned, then depending on passives, a max condensed gobfin can increase your offense 30% and defense 10% per gobfin. So you can take a mount (or pal glider) and 4 gobfins for 120% weapon DPS and 40% defense, before food additions, and steamroll content - as long as you have ammo.

I personally don't find it fun though. Seems silly that they put in a mechanic/gameplay style that bypasses the theme of the game. But oh well. Lots of people use it, and I'm considering using it for the last tower and bellanor libero. And maybe even oilrigs, since my pal's AI keeps making it ignore enemies specifically on the rig, to run off into the distance targeting who-knows-what.

You end up using amps for whatever you are using in the end game anyway. Gobfins just happens to be player focused and is the cheapest form of it as you do not need a top spec pal to amp up with elemental pal boosting passives.

Short answer, no. Long answer, yes.

Here's the long answer: If you are good at dodging attacks and have put a lot of your level up stats into attack. Gobfin passive when leveled up to max is surprisingly strong, and they stack, even with Vanguard. Thus a team of four Gobfins, all with maxed out passive and vanguard, buffs your attack, to insane level.

It will take time to get there but, it is worth it, as long as you know how to dodge the attacks of other pals.

Regarding the short answer, just as it is, it is not a great pal, you would need to work on it and other Gobfins in your team. If you don't want to work on getting vanguard Gobfin with maxed passive, you are better off focusing on other pals.

for oil rig 60 other builds useless , coz ur pal cant do anything with helicopter
if u wanna some for tower u can try elemental build a like shadowbeak and 4 hoocrates
It is the most effective way to deal with specific targets that doesn't need much of a Pal to take the hits for you,or when you are on a 1v1 against something, but generally i prefer, for my other travels,a team of pal that has the usual atk buffs but i slot in them vanguard,i get a 50% power increase while i still have a pal out shielding me and providing support...but yea gobfin stack is the easiest and fast way to ramp up damage (especially because wild ones are low levels and can be mass catch with mid tier spheres)

Also, technically, gobfins (and guns) aren't required for any content, outside of solo'ing the last tower or two, and soloing raids beyond the first. They're mostly there for the cringe shooter min/maxers, as this thread is proving. :steammocking:

You need gobfins for xeno boss and hard mode towers.
