How are you using the Expedition Station?
I'm curious if I've been missing something, so how has everyone else been using this thing?

I haven't unlocked the hard expeditions yet, but it seems like only the snow and grass expeditions are worth doing for the Civ Cores (+meat) and Civ Parts respectively.

After a massive condensation mission, fire area is still 11 minutes against 3 minutes in grass but I'm only getting 1 more part for the effort? It seems like as long as I'm in base I should be spamming forest for research and civs then ice when I'm adventuring and nothing else is remotely worth my time.

Has anyone else had better luck?

Mine runs normal Feybreak for the spheres and misc materials every 7 mins. Too lazy to order those splatterinas to stop whacking trees and craft those exotics.
I've actually been using expeditions to farm materials I'm missing. The pages and cores/parts I get from elsewhere.
Materials I'm commonly missing are food items for medicines, as everytime I go to the medicne bench, I'm short on things like galeclaw poultry or rushoar pork

I just do the normal Feybreak expeditions and run them in the background while I do other things in game. Gives me giant souls which are the most valuable ones for me, civ cubes for research and crafting, research obviously and all the best spheres so I never have to craft another one ever again pretty much. (in endgame and not using spheres frequently)

i been doing the normal volcano for the mushrooms u need soo many for the medicine research knowledge bleh i got the volcano expi down to under 5 mins now and i get like 5 to 8 mushrooms per way faster and easier than cave diving for them so i can craft the 30 high grade recovery meds QQ
Not worth your time?
It's literally just sending out Pals that are just idly sitting in the Palbox, and making them do something useful for once.

A convenient way to pick up free Ancient Parts and Cave Mushrooms, and getting some free meats to cook. Among other things.
All for the high cost of... walking a few steps over to that part of your base and claiming the prize.

Even sending them out, I can just go to one of the boxes, and just rapid-fire pick everything and send them. Later on, claim free goodies, and I didn't even have to grind a dungeon for it.

As for how to use it in general, I usually use it for the following purposes (if we don't want to go into hard expeditions - although I'm not sure what you mean by "hard" - that unlock after beating hard versions of tower bosses or just high level ones?).

1. Ancient civilization parts and ancient civilization cores. Especially ancient civilization cores.
2. Cavern mushrooms. They are difficult and boring to farm, so expeditions are a great option if you need them.
3. Souls and/or spheres.
4. Chromite. It's a pain to farm manually, so I've found expeditions to be better as a passive source of chromite.

So I usually send expeditions to the Dark Cave of Feybreak - it has most of the loot I need: souls, orbs, chromite and ancient civilization cores, and even some oil. In other cases, I send for mushrooms in Hidden Ruins of the Desert (again, if we don't count the difficult expeditions after defeating the tower bosses).

But again, I don't know what stage you are at exactly. So if it's near the beginning of the game, then I think any one you have the strength for and where you need the resources at the moment will do.
Probably focus on ancient civilization parts and the best time to mine them. Maybe also sulfur or coal - they are needed for ammo for firearms and better spheres before your pals can mine them in the base.

General use, until the Hard expeditions their only real use is for Pal Manuscripts, which you need for most research. Expeditions are by far the best way of getting them in bulk, and you need more than a hundred for each category. So the earlier you start collecting them, the better off you'll be. Once you get a hard mission, you'll swap to spamming that one for the Cores, because even at the glacial rate of 1 an hour it's still the easiest way to collect them for a solo player.

For generally how it works, each mission has a "power" requirement and each pal is assigned a value based on their level, Star level, and ATK power (considering the actual number, which is boosted by traits like Ferocious but not by the Lord of traits). Each mission has a minimum number of pals that must be of a specific type, and past that number any may be entered. The power requirement indicates the minimum value for 100% rewards, and the more you exceed that value by the shorter the expedition itself is. Only way to actually increase rewards gained per mission past 100%, to my knowledge, is via specific research.
It's the only way to get large amounts of cavern mushrooms.
