No footsteps

Made a world on this Steam version and the first thing I noticed is there are no footstep sounds at all. I have played a ton previously via Gamepass and this was not an issue. I have tried reinstalling, browsing forums etc with no luck. I found if I make a game as a female character I can hear footsteps fine, this problem is only if I make a male? I have reported this as a bug but does anyone know a quick get around until they patch it? (other than playing a female)
