Pokémon did (NOT) invent Poké Balls
I am aware that this has already been mentioned in the forums before, but I think it is something worth pointing out given the circumstances surrounding Palworld and its alleged patent infringement of game mechanics issued by Nintendo.

Extracted from The Wikipedia:

Robotrek, 1994 RPG for the SNES released in Japan and the USA.

It focuses primarily on allowing the player to raise up to three robots that are built from spare parts that can be found, obtained in battles, or generated by the player through the game's item combination system.
It has similar gameplay loop to most RPG video games of the time, with the notable exception that the protagonist is not the combatant, but rather the robots he invents are the ones doing the fighting.

The game uses capsules, half-red half-white balls that open according to the color division and absorb enemies to reduce them to a portable form for children and turn them into allies. They also doubled as treasure chests, but the game never explains how to put random healing items inside the capsules.

It's a very similar concept, for example, to the capsules made by Capsule Corp in Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball universe.

Out of curiosity, do you know what the first draft of Pocket Monsters was called?
Capsule Monsters.

So you see, Nintendo, as many mechanics in other videogames before, some of those present in your Pokemon games are just derivative, not original. Too bad the people behind Robotrek didn't think of patenting them back then, right? Hell, even while Pokémon was the king of the monster collection games it was far from the first, since the Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei beat them to it by 9 years.

not if u didnt patent it first but we dont even know if its the correct patent, peeps should just stop theorizing which it is unless they are a lawyer and wants to dig thru more than 20000copies of patents (yes it's at least that many cuz i actually scrolled to page 200 of that patent site)
