change the sphere to a cube.
Edit, (i dont want nintendo to win and i find it retarded they are trying to sue) pocketpair, make this change, just change the sphere to a cube or some other shape, easy fix because your no longer catching creatures with a ball, just make it seem like theres a barrier around the shape thats making it roll so keep the rolling mechanic.

So like the puzzlebox out of Hellraiser or the ghost trap out of Ghostbusters? How about like a frisbee? No. All of those have been done and its so easy to sue over ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ now days.
All you need is a judge you can pay off, and I haven't seen a judge with integrity this millennia.

Nintendo isn't suing over copyright, they are suing because someone did a better job then them and that puts shame on Nintendo/Pokemon team, so instead of doing better, they want to erase the cause of shame to save face.

Yet another reminder that you don't have to be the best, only be the ones with enough cash for the best legal team.

The concept of 'trapping someone in a box' is not novel, its been a thing for <checks notes> ok it just says 'since we invented boxes'.

Be able to curse them when HP is low. Then kill and summon them with a dark ritual. That way it's different. :erune:

I don't believe you can patent something so simple, there has to be something more to it honestly. Then again I don't know Japanese law so :aushrug:

I'd say we can rule that one out, since there are other games - on Nintendo's own platforms, no less - which do that. Temtem is the closest thing to a Pokémon clone mechanically, for example.

I'm betting this is for something else.

could always use a glove that shoots a beam to capture something. Or a jack in the box that launches a hand and pulls it in.

Nintendo tried to patent the TRPG genre ages ago too. They lost that one, but man what an incredibly greedy corporation.

Nintendo is suing based on their new patents, none of which are related to likeness to pokemon.
They're suing based on:
Being able to ride animals
Being able to catch and use monsters
Having pets attack on your behalf
Being able to save (real)
Having a game world (also real)

They also patented "boss fights" and "item collection/loot".

So you can't make games is what you are saying 🤣 or is not making a game also patented?
Fun part is that it falls under Japanese competition law's conducts of private monopolization and unfair buisness practices (since they started patenting some things after Palworld was released).

Akira Toriyama's Family needs to sue for pokemon steeling capsule corps idea if this lawsuit is successful. This whole idea of this lawsuit is more trouble than its worth. If palworld needs to change its sphere, lets make it an implosion grenade. This way better spheres have larger explosions and special effects like stun, freeze, sleep. Instead of a belt we can have an upgrade able bandolier so we can take more monsters with us over time say maxing at 10.

This keeps it on theme, we are not throwing balls, next the only concern is that some of the more pokemon looking pals get a refresh or more distinctive recolor

It doesn't matter: their patent are super abstract "throw object -> catch/summon creature".

This is literally copypaste from their patent:

In a first mode, an aiming direction in a virtual space is determined based on a second operation input, and a player character is caused to launch, in the aiming direction, an item that affects a field character disposed on a field in the virtual space, based on a third operation input. In a second mode, the aiming direction is determined, based on the second operation input, and the player character is caused to launch, in the aiming direction, a fighting character that fights, based on the third operation input.

Just wait for the Big N to start suing everyone for the human ability to throw a rock.

I do not believe what exactly they're being sued over has been made clear yet so I don't know if that's help, also it should be something like an arrow not a cube, cubes would be hell to throw.

Throw object> Catch creature/Summon creature.

Shoot, the Greeks were onto something with their Net/Trident tactics...
