Playstation/PS5 compatibility with dedicated servers?
Does anyone know if PS5's can play on dedicated servers?

I play over a LAN or others over VPN to my server, but does the PS5 support playing on my LAN dedicated server still? My SO games only on playstation, so she's missed out on Palworld thus far, but I don't know if buying it for her she can even still play on a dedicated server on the LAN.

Sony only begrudgingly allows cross-play still, and it seems to only come with the fattest whale games that bring them top return on investment. I can see this going either way for Palworld.

Sony's own silly practice of disallowing "early" games made them miss on the gold rush of Palworld early, so the ship has probably already sailed for it there, but I hope they still managed to get cross-play between outside servers and platforms.

It only just released a short time ago at best give it some time before they can implement it without having issues like ark and dayz have on the platform.
An I'm not joking about the problems with dayz on consoles with dedicated servers can't even drive around the map without some lag spike that lands ya into a tree.
Also sonys issue with early access games is down to the devs not fully committing to finishing the project fully and running off the money something that had happened alot after the 2010's.

Well that's my fear, it's some half-assed release that doesn't really do most of the base functionality I actually expect such as dedicated server functionality.

If it doesn't do dedicated server, there is zero reason for me to buy this, but nothing really says yes or no, let alone good or bad.

Even so the xbox versions didn't have dedicated servers for a good few months after release.
Mostly down to the devs having to negotiate setting up some server systems and I guess find some 3rd party services that would provide their own servers at a cost while taking a small cut.

Now that Sony has recently got a grip on Palworld, just give them a bit and it'll be there.

Well, that's why I asked, either they could entirely surprise me and have functional cross-play day one as they should since they've always bragged/sold cross-play as a feature, or I just as easily imagine sony being dirtbags about it as any of the walled garden consoles are to give up control in any way to external parties and services.

I just really don't want to spend another $30 to find out the PS5 version does NOT and probably never will. Rather put that toward a "replace ps5 with pc" fund.
