If I buy this...
If i buy this and nintendo ends up shutting you down completely, what happens? Do we lose game access? Or do sales just stop?

I'd imagine the sells stop.. personally, I think Nintendo should be forced to do a refund for everyone if they want Palworld gone.

This makes no practical sense. It's perfectly fine to dislike the situation but even so it makes no sense why Nintendo should be responsible for refunds of a game that they did not make or produce.

So... lets say you bought this... nintendo bankrupts this company or developer... you're fine with paying for a thing with a limited life span and getting screwed out of that purchase? Like... maybe it makes no practical business sense, but how about once, the consumer doesn't get shafted? Maybe. You're presumably arguing against yourself... which makes no sense.

Lets say Pocket pair is forced to seize developing the game and stop sales.
Nothing happens to your copy other than it doesn't get official updates and official servers probably go down.
However you can still mod and host your own servers as much as you want.
This means development doesn't actually seize as it continues with the modders hands instead.
So no way in hell is Nintendo actually winning anything other than tanking reviews and stocks.

Nintendo isn't in this to win, they just want to hurt the dev's and discourage others, they dont have a leg to stand on considering they patented the mechanic AFTER the game came out. If they win it means the judge was corrupt.

I'm talking about the practicality of the situation you posed which make no sense. How long a game last after buying as per your hypothetical example if Nintendo casuses pocketpair to shut down the only company responsible for giving refunds would be pocketpair because it is their product that they sold. Nintendo did not make or sell palworld so they would not be responsible for giving refunds to people who purchased palworld that in this hypothetical was shutdown and didn't not last.

To reiterate what made no sense is having Nintendo to give refunds on a game they do not own or sell. That responsibly falls on pocketpair the one who made and sold the game.

I would assume, the game just stays in your library as long as you bought it before it gets removed from the store. Is this not how things are handled?
I recently bought the game and it is fun. Its not like money is wasted.

I hope this encourages other companies, small and large, to bully and preditorially sue Nintendo whenever there's a decent chance.

Treat others the way you want to be treated.. maybe if they innovated and their fans didn't buy slop, maybe Palworld wouldn't be a thing to begin with.

It depends on what grounds Palworld is caught infringing according to the court ruling. I imagine the palworld dev would then just change whatever mechanic that is and keep rolling forward with the game.
