Locations of the rings of resistance
I never see anyone talking about the rings of resistance despite a +2 ring giving a whopping 40 percent resistance against attacks. Many people don't even know a +2 ring exists. There is some information online about the locations of reach ring, but it doesn't cover all of the pals that drop them. why use a specific damage type over the regular +2 one. Assuming you have them both of course.

I'm not sure what you mean, but if you are referring to the defense pendant or the life pendant. The +2 life pendant only gives you 15% more health and the +2 defense pendant gives you 30% more defense. On the other hand a resistance ring gives you a 40% resistance against attacks of the corresponding type. You don't have to really choose between a resistance ring or a pendant when you already have 4 inventory slots unlocked. When you are fighting a boss you can combo a defense pendant with a resistance ring of the right type to get some insane defense.

I think they're talking about how, in your original post, the first ring mentioned is just called "ring of resistance", which implies it could be a general one that applies the resistance to all cases, so they're asking why use any of the others instead of just that one.

I had to look that up. Ring of Resistance is for neutral damage, lol.

That makes sense, given that all the others are named after elements, and "Ring of Neutral Resistance" doesn't quite sound as neat.

The +2 rings have a 1% drop rate for anyone that was wondering. I tried farming for the dark resist ring for some of the hard mode bosses until I found out I could just dodge everything riding on my mount or gliding around at mach 5 speed with galeclaw.

Good to know, I'll bare that in mind when I get to that point in my own world, thanks!

Why go for defensive when you can go full offensive?

Even if you were to use all attack pendants, you would have one slot left. Besides a regular attack pendant will only give you a 5 percent attack boost and is generally not worth it in my opinion.

5% can go a long way.
