in other word's you need a pal you can mount on and can swim without suffocated.
there many option's. my personal fav is elphidran aqua since you can go in the oil rig by surfing. then one's all the lazer tower are down leave by flying.
2 good EVERYTHING:
every enemy are lv55 and hit like truck's. it was so bad the dev even nerf there dps.
tho there is some cheese you can do.
bushi and incineram can do stealth kill if build up and done correctly do to there partner ability which is a targeted attack. tho for bushi it need to one shot so i recomend building a incineram or it noct version.
3 do your best to not fight more then 2 enemy's for obvious reason.
Wait, stealth is a thing in this game?
I had hoped for it, but didn't know if it was.
Given that as soon as I shot a guard, the alarm sounded and the whole rig was gunning for me.
I don't mind sneaking around.
Either way, they way overdid the Rig's defenses.
(apart from the anti-air lasers, which is fair if it keeps you from just dropping in, grabbing the goods, and flying away.)
Encouraging stealth would make for a good balance, silently sniping foes and thinning their numbers.
but on a more serious note, the only things really offered by the oil rig are schems1-4 for things you should already be able to craft by the time you go there, like the laser rifle and the plasteel armor, and more oil to make more plasteel. you can get quite a lot of things in sakurajima without ever interacting with the oil rig at all until you're really ready for it
Honestly, I was only interested in Ancient Cores, which I hear can be found at the oil rig.
I suppose I should just devote resources to try to take on Bellanoir.
But, how do you escape afterwards?
To get there I usually use Jetdragon too, I stay low but dismount and recall and swim a bit until the shots are done, repeat until there. I tried water mounts but they're still so sloooooow (buff them already, there's no reason they shouldn't move like a Jetdragon *in* water; at least all the larger ones should, they're utterly worthless as mounts on land aside from using abilities in combat).
I was hoping it would be a little longer before this was posted somewhere, but oh well. It was a good shortcut while it lasted, but it's definitely something that they'll need to fix.
OP, you'll want a rocket launcher. It's hands-down the best primary for the oil rig (and pretty much everything else). For a secondary, take an AR or shotgun to handle anything that gets within firing distance/line of sight while you're reloading.
I do not recommend using pals for the oil rig; the amount of fire they take will massively outdamage their fairly limited recovery abilities even with meds active, so you'll want to limit your team to augments like Gobfin or utilities like Lamball. Prioritise elites, grenadiers, gunners, and crushers. Gunners and crushers are both by far the most dangerous enemies on account of their rate of fire and relatively quick response to you entering their line of sight, while an explosive hitting you when your shield is down is more or less an instakill.
Make use of the explosive barrels and huge gas tanks around the rig; they have a fairly generous radius and excellent damage, and most of them are positioned to make clearing the enemies near them more convenient. Crates, tents, and other line of sight blocking terrain props are your best friend here, and will have enemies conga-lining for your position.
There's four static places the big chests (they're massive; you're not going to miss them) can spawn, and only one will spawn on the rig at a time. They respawn once every 30-45 minutes. One spawns in the tents at one end of the rig, another in the building by the huge tower in the centre, the other two in the multilevel complex on the other end; one between some shipping containers, the other in a room down some stairs whose door is next to a T intersection. Both these and the smaller chests that spawn on the rig can spawn legendary blueprints for the two top tiers of gear, though the rates on them are extremely low as far as I'm aware.
The big chests are a great source of explosive ammo and oil, though, and definitely worth farming, especially on single player or in a small co-op game where the division of resources/farming spots is minimal. Most of all, this is the place you want to go to farm the ancient civ cores; you can get up to 5 per big chest, massively outperforming even the fastest possible clears of the raid bosses in terms of time to complete and consistent availability.
