Keep in mind there are currently 4 building material types wood, stone, steel, and "glass". The default base limit is also 4, and that can be raised using the rules. There are also multiple resources to gather outside of Pal hunting/farming Stone, Wood, Palduim Fragments Ore, Coal, Sulfur, and Crude Oil. Coal & Sulfur both have their mines about 5+ levels after you start needing them, and they have a hefty ancient technology point price. Crude Oil is even worse as it has to be processed from specific locations.
My point is unless you specifically followed a guide, and had a very rocky start your first base is not optimal. Your first base, or first 2 bases should be torn down when you can relocate to better spots. The alternative is doing a lot of stuff manually then having a low quantity of Crude Oil after running the supply drop reserve dry.
i mean seriously, that's been a core feature of all games that followed a similar formula before, ark and conan exiles being prime examples and since that's the teritorry palworld entered right away one shouldn't be surprised if people already expect it to be there from the get-go.
or heck, at least letting us relocate chests and workbenches instead of re-building them every time would be a halfway decent workaround if straight upgrading is too much of a hassle.
