Overall big stuff-
~A new high level island and a set of new pals to go with it (you'll see your first new pal just outside the starting hill, down by the water)
~Level max 50->55 with 5 new levels of high end tech
~A new outdoor dungeon sort of area called the Oil Rig with the possibility to drop legendary patterns for new weapons
~A handful of new regular pals, notably go get yourself an Emu (they're crazy fast)
~Raid encounters - 4ish summonable pals which you fight using an entire base. The higher difficulty ones require building lots of good pals to have a chance.
~PvP arena
~Boss hard modes which offer a max level high difficulty version of all 4 original tower bosses.
~Craftable/findable potions to perma boost player stats
~Meteor/Supply drop world events which trigger every few hours and give you access to either materials and 2 unique pals, or actually helpful items.
~Craftable ore/coal/sulfer nodes like the stone pit/tree things.
Then smaller stuff is lots of bug and optimization stuff. You're unlikely to have pals getting stuck and acting dumb at your base, I've seen it once in a playthrough rather than every time I pop into base. You get xp up to 12 caps instead of 10 per pal. You can dress up a few pals.
Probably some other notable stuff, but those are my highlights.
