The more you progress and grow, the more strain it take to load the world. It may or may not have anything to do with any of that. But if you have say 7 bases with 50 pals each, that's likely your problem.
I was over 1 in game year on my main save, but the new updates were causing the game to crash on it so I thought it was corrupted and deleted it to start a new save fresh (maybe the mods had also something to do with it)... even so my game would still lag and again I didn't had to do literally anything for that to happen, just standing still for a few minutes would cause the game to start laging whenever I moved the camera
I just finished formating my pc and I'm rn installing everything back so once I have some time to play I'll check if a clean windows install fixed it
by the time I posted this comment I left my game running for 30 minutes in ultra graphics while I downloaded other 2 games and had over 10 browser tabs open, no fps drops
Formatting can solve a lot of problems that are difficult to find. Many programs even after being uninstalled leave files behind that might affect your PCs operation. That is likely what fixed it, you removed something that was causing a problem.
Be very careful what you add back in. If you are running mods, there are some that plain out do not work. Some that will cause serious problems like crashes.
Be nice once the game is more stable and we get actual mod support for this game. Once we have that, running mods will no longer be the high risk thing that it is right now.
I love mods. I will install more than the 2 I have right now once the time is right.
