So, about Yakumo...
Is it worth breeding passives onto it to catch a Zenogard with at least some of the passives I want?

From reading Yakumo's ability, it suggests that while ridden, Pals that spawn have an increased chance of having the same passives as Yakumo. What are the details here? How much more likely? Is it all four passives, or just one? Does this even work with Xenogard? If it does, even just starting with one passive I want will make breeding it easier.

My approach with Yakumo is mainly to assist in the process of breeding. So I have a Yakumo that carries 2 passives that I may need at the time. The main ones I got to use a lot are the following:

- Ferocious + Musclehead
- Artisan + Work Slave
- Nocturnal + Philanthropist
- Workaholic + Positive Thinker
- Serenity + Impatient
- Stronghold Strategist
- Diet Lover

All of them have Mercy Hit which can also be passed, but its not important since it will be bred anyways. What's important is your target wont die.

I painstakingly ranked them up for the higher chance of passing the trait. Though a Yakumo at rank 0 can still pass the trait eventually.

I knew that they couldn't pass Legend. But reading the posts now, I realize I could have given them Legend for the extra buffs. I...... may have to go back and do that.

Lastly, I made them learn these skills:

- Hydro Jet
- Wind Cutter
- Ice Missile
- Sand Blast
- Dark Arrow

I only get to use 3 at a time of course, but the trick is to make adjustments depending on your target. Make the Yakumo afflict status effect to raise the chance of catching your target.

I just don't let Yakumo attack on his own. If you hit 4, you can command your pals to stop attacking, but still be out to soak damage from the hostile wild pal. If you use a mercy ring, it also applies to your pal while riding.

Yeah, this is what I've been doing with legendary pals. Since I originally posted this, I've had great success with Legendary pals.

Normally, wild pals' passives are generated when they spawn. However, Yakumo's ability specifically allows it to add passives to caught pals if it is out at the moment of capture. There are mods that allow you to see the passives of wild pals, and if you have one of these on, you will see that a wild pal's passives differ before and after it is caught (if Yakumo's ability procs).

I have a follow-up question on this. Does it only have a chance to fill in empty passive slots, or can it overwrite one the wild pal already has?

As far as I'm aware it can only add them, never replace. I've never seen a report of it replacing a pre-generated passive. This means that pals that always spawn with a certain passive will still always have that passive.

My experience supports that. I've caught a bunch of legendary pals and Yakumo has never replaced Legend.
