I think there are predetermined map locations where meteorites can happen, and nowhere3 else. I built a really cool base at -81,193 and it's not rare that I have meteorite events very nearby; I just need to drop down and it's there.

I have never had one at another base, but there are some other spots out in the wild where I've had them come down.

Meteor events share the same timer as supply drops, so if you get the supply drop you'll have to wait. they are meant to be rarer events.

2 of my bases a meteorite always drops right outside whenever I go there, I'm using all default settings

I've noticed my bases in the grasslands biomes (center areas, not specific zones like the desert or ice areas) do not seem to get the supply drop or meteors. Is there a chance you are waiting in a grass area for the drop?

Whenever I fast travel to another zone such as the new island or the ice or volcano areas, the supply drop is nearly immediate. This is assuming the 3 hour timer has passed since the last occurrence.

Dachte I think is correct. I know I've had two happen in the exact same spot, and probably more that I just didn't remember or notice. I think there are several spots on most islands that it can happen, but they are predetermined spots.

I am also of a mind that particular spots will be for particular ones. I've heard of others getting Xenoguard out on the Desiccated Desert. But what I got out there was the Xenovaders. That was near Paldius & Necromus. I'm guessing more in the center or southwest is where you'll get the other guy. At mount Obsidian and near Fisherman's Point I've only seen Xenoguard. In the center of the Sakurajima I've gotten Seylen twice. But the northern sand bar near Menasting Terra, it was Xenovaders. And in the Bamboo Grove I've only seen Xenovaders the two times it happened there.

So, they happen in certain spots, and where it happens I'm pretty sure tells you what you are going to get if it's a meteor and not a supply drop.

there is one by mt obsidian ( spelling) if you go to the left of the horses fighting and walk form the crude spot toward the horses' you will get a drop or meteor . what i have discovered is its only in certain areas and it has a timer and a trigger at least the way it works in my game hope this helps and i find it only comes in the higher level sims mid game and above thats my experience .

Areas that aren't considered lategame areas don't get meteor drops, as far as I'm aware. You need a base somewhere like the desert, volcano, snow, or (if you're looking to catch Selyne) Sakurajima if you want them.

Oh, and they only happen if you go near a place they can happen. If your base is on one of the starter islands, then it will never happen until you go to an area where it can happen. That is assuming you are solo. If you are on the public serves, I'm not 100 percent sure how it works. I think it's just one event every three hours and it just happens when it happens with no notification. But I don't know for sure.

To be clear, I mean by one event, I mean map wide. I think it just drops randomly and whoever is close by is close by.

You want to trip one?

Firstly, have your base on the starter island. No drops of any sort happen there.
Secondly, activate a bunch of the teleport points on Mt Obsidian.
Thirdly, prat about in your base for about 3 hours.
Fourthly, after 3 or so hours, just teleport to Mt Obsidian. Somewhere along the south side of the island should do. You'll almost certainly get a meteor drop happen almost the instant you show up. Then you can loot it, go home to your base for another 3 hours, telebamf back to the volcano and get another meteor.

Just a few tips on Meteorites:

They spawn while in game every 3 hours REAL LIFE time and despawn 9 hours after.
They most of the time should only spawn when you are within 200m of the spawn location, sometimes this bugs out and will spawn one very far away
Sometimes Meteorites seem to bug out and wont spawn unless you teleport back to the location
Spawns are predetermined locations but are shared with Supply Crates
The Respawn time should start immediately after you either pick up the Supply Crate or mine the Meteorite, NOT when you defeat the pals/enemies
Xenovaders can spawn in EVERY meteorite at a higher chance than the other two
Xenogarde spawns from Meteorites in the high level Snow Biome and Desert, they seem to only spawn as Alphas
Selyne only spawns in the new Island and can spawn both regular and Alphas
The Pals will INSTANTLY despawn if you load them and then unload them for whatever reason IE game crashes or you die fighting them

If you want to force spawns you can set your PC time to not be automatic and change it 3 hours ahead to guarantee a spawn as long as you are within 200m of a spawn location. Once you mine up the Meteorite or Pick up the Supply drop you can repeat as many times as you want. Keep in mind though that if you reset your clock back to normal it will add on that time to the next respawn, what you should instead do is close out the game entirely and then reset your time, you will be able to push the time forward again for a spawn.
