I checked in seeing this comment, but it's still hardly useful, and really would rather it be visible full time as @Shawn said.
Back in the day with actual CRTs, you could write a cross hair with erasable marker on the screen and be sure it would wipe off on the glass.
Now with screens as wide as 3 feet, the center is not so easy to find
To the point above by @wildbill too, you "can" right click to trigger the visibility, but NOT when riding a pal, or at least jetragon, which is the worst as they're so large they fly offset in such a way finding the center of the screen is not always obvious on a large screen.
Yes, I can manage mostly, and have to play some 450 hours of Palworld so far to hate it too much, but this is one small thing that still nags me every time I'm grinding an oil rig run and need to target with a jetragon every time.
Well I have to admit, I hate so much the way the jetdragon works with this (you can't capture pals off it at all, can you?), that I don't use it even if I have it tamed. I'll just stick with my fully condensed and leveled Beakon instead.
The biggest issue is the weird angle he flys at, not to mention mine bugs out and flys sideways, backward, and hell at times invisible to get around, so aiming is hard to tell exactly where the center is all the time. This is particularly bad in any light daytime setting, and almost as bad at night even.
Changing the color and opacity helps slightly, but when it still goes nearly entirely opaque, it's impossible to see for, and I can't even hit the right click to trick it on when on a pal vs when on foot.
It's always like the left hand doesn't talk to the right at Pocketpair with some of these features, and certainly no one with eyes over 40 like me.

If your monitor is as fancy as you say it is, it should have a crosshair setting. Mine is a Full HD monitor and has it.
