You can hold down ALT I think and the structure you're placing will line up with a nearby placed structure.
I use it a little but I dunno if that's what you're looking for.
If it's a 'square' then there are many complicated and unbalance rules, such as 1 meter on top-left direction count as base but 1 meter on left will not count as base. Minecraft can be all square or any shape because the base can be built anywhere in the world.
I often find that my Pals are not moving my resources from the mines etc to the storage.
But then I visit the mines etc and ohh.. they're empty.. where are my... oh, yeah my Pals have gone and thrown it all outside my base radius in a giant pile XD
Until then, yeah, we have to do it Minecraft style.
It could also be that you're not intended to build all the way to the the radius, since the turrets only work when an enemy is within the radius.
So you have a square wall, and your Pals shoot at anything that enters the radius.
But, considering how small the radius is, that also doesn't make much sense.
I dunno, I think we're all still trying to figure out the meta for bases here.
...Have you never heard of a square foot?
You absolutely can measure accurately in square shapes.
If the rule is set with a square formula, our 1m top-left count as base but 1m left doesn't count anymore. It's no longer a good distancing rule.
Darling... you don't seem to understand much about the programing here, do you? This is literally about the distance the pals go from point of origin (the computer) around. That is A CIRCLE.
Irene claimed it's impossibly difficult to accurately measure a square area, and I pointed out it absolutely is possible, hence the term "square feet".
(Though how it's supposed to be harder to figure "X * Y = ?" instead of "X * 3.14 = ?" is beyond me)
-----
As for the rest, the turrets don't work until an enemy is within the circle.
Hence, we don't know the current meta yet, if you're supposed to build walls at the circle, or less so the turrets can be useful, or whatever.
In any case, having building options at 45 degree angles would be nice.
