Can bellanoir explode when it is defeated (spoiler alert)?

I just "defeated" bellanoir, when it died, it exploded. I've done this battle about 30 times, that is the first time I've seen it explode. This destroyed the pal box, killed all the pals in the battle, part of the base, of course also items that get destroyed when the pal box is destroyed. This left the dead pals as spheres on the ground that we had to "pick up".

I only did this at my oil rig base because where I'm playing we are limited to 2 bases. Is this a rare event, and if so, how the hell was I so unlucky to have this happen on my first attempt on this server I'm on?

there si a warning when you go to actavate the summon alter. it will destroy your base in above commnet i thought oyu ment when you kill her no when she appears she destroys your base.

It says it can destroy your base, not that it will destroy your base. On an unofficial I was playing on, I did like 30 bellanoir in my oil base. Never destroyed anything but a few parts of my stone base. I had the palbox on the ground though. I guess Bellanoir can destroy foundations and if it destroys the foundation the palbox is on, then the palbox will be destroyed. Also apparently even if you kill Bellanoir, but it destroys your palbox, you fail.
