What am I missing?

The new hard mode tower bosses, how to you initiate combat with them? I decided to go ahead and give Zoe a shot. When to her tower and there was nothing different about entering so I said no and tired again. No, still no options. Ok, so maybe I have to beat her again to get the option to try her on hard mode. Nope, upon beating her and going back remained the same.

The only thing I can think of, I need to beat the new tower boss first? Is that it? Or is there something else I'm missing?

Yes, you do need to defeat Saya (and all the other tower bosses, too) in order to unlock Hard Mode.

Aw, thought it would let me do them on my own time like everything else. I guess it kind of does, I just have to actually earn it first.

This exactly , hardmode towers dont unlock until you've done all of them once

I get the distinct impression that Hard Mode tower bosses are not made to be done solo.
I HAVE done them solo, but most of it consisted of my maxed out Bellanoir Libero doing the heavy lifting while I burnt through hours worth of ammo in the space of a few minutes.

But I gotta be a hero... even though my character is in no way the good guy. Not evil per se, but for sure not the hero of the story.

I did it for the achievement. Wouldn't have bothered otherwise. But it feels like doing the raid bosses now, except you only get to bring one Pal. Oh, and a few of the fights are a little different. Saya in particular is.... well, you'll see when you get to her.

Funnily enough, they actually can be solo'd if you turn down the difficulty all the way.

Funnily enough, they actually can be solo'd if you turn down the difficulty all the way.

Do I look like a games journo? There will be none of that. Turning off egg timers and death penalties is as far as I'm going to make it easy for myself. Insofar as getting the achievements. I feel a little dirty turning off all drops, but if I didn't, I'd be playing too slow and careful to have much fun, or get anything done anyway.
