how does yakumo work?

when does his passive kick in? when pals first spawn in and he is already out, or he just needs to be out at the time you catch a pal?

I've not tested it myself, but I've been told Yakumo generates stats on capture. The pal just needs to be out before capture progress completes for it to have an influence.

Yes, just summon this yakumon before the catch to get passive.
