Unclear if it's TOTALLY inaccessible (as in pals will never decide to use them) or if it's just the assignment menu that bugs out.
I took a round deleting old workbenches to test my theory and suddenly three pals spontaneously started mining from a coal mine I'd placed but everyone had ignored up until that point. Not watertight proof but I feel like I'm onto something....
I have all of mine outside and two of them no longer show up.
They were there one time, tried to assign someone, but no work was issued and the Pals "fell off" the station assignment. The next time I opened the list the stations weren't there.
The ranch i had in question was one of three, i also had a logging camp and stone quarry (that i could see fine in the assignment board.
Also i had 2 pals go use it even tho the AB wasn't registering it, just not the sybelix for some reason.
Could just be that you rebuilt it. That would likely reset it. When crafting benches in games stop working, one of the first things I try that will sometimes work is to destroy and build it again.
I the explanation for this from someone in this forum. They said the list you see of stations in the Monitoring Station is the same list the pals see. If an item doesn't show up, the game is unable to find a path to it. This simply means your base is badly designed, not that the game is broken. I've yet to confirm this, but it certainly makes sense.
1x4 rear clearnance? What do you think they are doing behind the sphere assembly line? I've found you don't need any space at all behind any work station, only in front.
You could say the pathing is not great, but if there is no path in your base for a pal, even the best pathing in the world would not find a path.
One option is that they just remove pathing altogether and just teleport pals around or let them work on crafting something clear on the other side of the base. That would certainly look very cheesy, which is why they probably haven't implemented a solution like that (to path where there is no path).
Yep, they've actually already implemented it in some instances.
Before any updates, handicraft pals have always been able to build out-of-reach projects from anywhere. They still can as of this post.
If your pal cannot reach the food-bin, it will teleport to it before teleporting straight to its destination. It's peak cheese and I think exploitable.
Pals that fail at pathfinding but can still wander will usually teleport back to the palbox in a loop when they fail to reach their destination. Idk what triggers this state vs. standing around like a lost child.
A simple solution without cheese would be to allow visibility to a building's hitbox. The 'access point' i.e, the front facing worksite for pals isn't restricting the building placements and can be built over. This is what is causing SO MUCH CONFUSION since this and the many clone threads validates players aren't even aware what the issue is.
For instance, the ranch or breeding farms is essentially a circle, but if the entrance is blocked by any obscurity even though it's perfectly open, it won't work.

The above looks fine, but it isn't. Full foundation fixes it.
Pal pathing has been improving so I have high hope this will be fixed soon in some capacity. Until then, I've resolved every monitor-glitch I've encountered. With 600 hours and multiple re-runs of the game I can guarantee resolution. You just need a lil' determination.
