New Island - How to avoid the laser?
Heyy Pals,
I was excited about the new update and wanted to explore the new area.
But there is this giant Sauron-like laser, which shoots me from the sky...
Couldnt find anything useful about the laser situation...
How can I access the Island?

Thx for your help 😁

That's the new challenge area called the Oil Rig. Don't go there until you are absolutely prepared and have a fast mount to dodge the laser. The new island is on the other side of the map, north of the volcano and west of the ice mountain. Hope this helps!

The lasers target pals, but you can technically swim to the oil rig without aggroing it. Once you get close tho, lv 55 NPCs start swarming you, so definitely be careful and bring ample buff foods. I haven't made an attempt on official settings, so I don't know where your dropped bag of stuff ends up if you die on/near the rig.

I tryd and at the moment you enter the rig or ride a pal your melted or dead.
I dont think its possible to beat this Oil Rig. Maybe you can later Story like disable the Laser Turrets but even then the NPCs maybe its MP only for the reason that a Player alone with his Pals is dead on sight.

The new Island on the other Hand is reachable and in a different place.

at first the idea of swimming sounded ridicilous cause you will run out of stamina but then i figured out a neat trick, when you summon a flying mount in water, mount it ,then immediatly dismount, you will regen your stamina and the laser turret will most likely miss you (4 out of 5 times for me)
thought yeah you are right, the enemies are definitly tough ,they can kill a jet dragon in mere seconds.
oh and to answer your last point, i emptied my inventory besides a few stones before attempting and the bag dropped on the oil rig after i died.

Go on a water mount like jormentide. They dont target anything that doesn't fly for what ever reason and with water mounts you wont have to worry about stamina or drowning.

you can use an water type pal like jormuntide to swim to the oil rig, and don't think using an jet dragon will help, I had an full speed jet dragon and they melted it own in 5s flat

then it didn't helped much because the npcs from the oil rig are massively buffed up, like they're doing about 800 damage per shot on my jormuntide

Ride a seafaring mount. The lasers only target flying mounts.

Though I have a question: Do human mooks still use guns if submerged in water?

Once you get to the rig you can break the guns and lasers. You jsut need something fast enough to get under it and dodge them thats pretty much it.

One word for you my friend, Jetdragon.

The oil rig is the first area where i felt grenades were worth using, hitting enemies from behind cover with incendiaries to set them on fire helped a lot with doing this area when underlevelled.

The gatling gunners are basically guaranteed death if you're ever caught without cover though, don't underestimate them. The regular guys can be dangerous but any sufficiently powerful weapon can stun them out of their attacks.

jormuntide to get there, and 4 rocket launchers equipped so that you can quickly cycle through them as you blast the level 55 enemies. Even with the standard quality launcher, 2 consecutive hits will usually kill even the toughest enemies, but it's good to have extra shots in case you miss. I'd take about 100 rockets along just to be safe.
