Serious, and or Artisan are the best in my opinion. Never slacker, or any of the other "red" traits. Those red traits will cause more problem than they are worth.

go with work speed for the ranch skills as they will drop items quicker in the ranch i think its artisan and also level them up to the highest rank possible that will majorly hlp as well

Personally I breed them like this:
Artisan + Serious for faster animation (producing eggs, milk, etc.)
Swift for movement (less time spending outside the farm for things like eating/sleeping)
Diet Lover for hunger management (less eating equals more time producing materials)

yes workspeed is good for them. also you might want them to eat less (nutritious) or else to run fast (swift/runner) so they don't take much time to go to eat if the feedbox is not just outside your farm.

Ranch speed != Work speed, and work speed buff like artisan, serious, work slave, ... are not effective on ranch.

i had noticed that the Vixy was finding more items quicker if it had faster work speed like Artisan...
so im confused
Artisan is easily my pick, which you can get from keeping Mozzarina on the ranch.

but if you are looking for more, these guys have some nice suggestions

For ranch pals the optimal traits should be diet lover and swift for staying on the ranch longer and getting to the food basket back and forth quicker

Artisan and work speed may be somewhat useful for ranch pals as it only affects the animation speed that pals do when they release specific item related to them in the ranch, this is only minimal

Reason for the minimal is most of the time you will see the ranch pals just wander around idle in the ranch due to the hidden cooldown timer after each item releases per intervals

for workspeed do artisan, workslave, serious and luck all 4 of those passives give workspeed HOWEVER workspeed only makes the dropping animations fast it doesn't directly make them give more items workspeed only effects jobs in the base with a progress bar like cooking, crafting and planting seed plus cooling and charging power and makes all animations faster so if a pall is mining ore they dont mine faster unless they are in the logging site or one of the other two ones like that. another option is diet lover, swift and runner. this is good as your pall will leave the ranch less if it doesnt eat as much meaning more time making items and the movement speed lets it get back to the ranch faster. another idea is to make them with max attack. this is because you got almost no extra items from the passives focused on workspeed from ranch pals but is you go attack they can help defend the base when in a raid. this all depends on your situation like if you keep the food bin in by the ranch then maybe go workspeed but if you keep it by your other workers then maybe go diet/movement
