That being said, there are other factors involved that have pushed me into a well-run and functional dead server on the other side of the world vs a server in the same city as me.
Palworld online is in a weird state until they update the game a bit, so you'll have to develop a tolerance, search for the PERFECT server likely locked behind a Discord, or find something else to do until the game is patched up a bit.
They have said they will be increasing the number of servers and hosting on more robust providers as well. One thing they are waiting on is money, they made a lot of sales but are still waiting on the first checks to arrive to start all the planned improvements.
That being said...
You honestly might have more fun in single. The only players consistently having fun online are the Griefers. between that and rollbacks/crashes ... unless you have a close group of friends you want to host a server with ... its just not worth the headache right now. ** A few months from now, the story may be 180 ... but who knows other than Time.
~"TIMMY!". no, "Time". TIMMYYY!!" ...
Same, there's fun in the cycle :)
That said, the devs have stated they want to implement a means of transferring your character data across servers (I'm thinking maybe like Terraria?) so you may be able to bring that character as well as your pals along later.
Don't let them hear, but I actually enjoy the chaos they bring even though I wish they'd be more empathetic to others.
I also wish they couldn't wipe the server at will, but there's a thrill to coming on the next day and your super hidden base is still in-tact while everyone is screaming in chat about a hacker on Windswept Hills.
I also managed to convince one to not wipe us and give me a bunch of the 'admin balls', could catch almost anything instantly. Fun times. :)
