Why do you feel that using that mechanic needs a defense in the first place?
The Mechanic with monsters/things/toys stored in balls is originally not from pokemon. In Japan storing things in Balls (or Capsules) is often used.
Dragonball as a prominent example had Capsules before pokemon (not for monsters though).
The Gashapon are a whole Industry with toys in Balls found in the 1960s. Many of you know them, when you were a child. I knew them before Pokemon.
Having Monsters in Capsules to fight for you was copied from the Japanese TV-Show "Ultraseven" from the 1960s.
Pokemon replace the real world animals. Many are simple Copies of real animals (rat, mouse, cow, insects, etc.)
Pokemon just merged all of that.
I mean, in that case Pokemon would have to defend the idea of mythological type monsters being stored in a device due to the existence of Digimon (which came first), then a device that's meant to be an encyclopedia+analyzer on the world's monsters, and the idea of evolving a monster into something even stronger before your very eyes.
I think the idea of capturing overpowered creatures and using them for your gain has been around since ancient times and worldwide.
Well said. I forgot that they were using capsules in Dragon Ball as well which shrunk the size of the stored object, allowing characters to carry a spaceship in their pockets for example. In Pokémon they simply changed the shape of the capsules into balls, in Palworld they changed them into spheres.
I really really love Pokemon. So much so that I missed so many good games on 3DS cause I only had Pokemon in my head. I personally have no hate whatsoever for this game and find some of the reactions to it very weird. (and weirdly entertaining.) One day, these people will grow up and will cringe at what they thought was the right thing to do OR they remain the same and will be even more amusing. (or sad. however you want to see it)
As for the lawsuit, if there was something to be taken to court about, The Pokemon Company (not Nintendo) would have already gone after it after the first release of the trailer. And it would have even been very easy given the fact that both companies are Japanese. The dispute would be local. And TPC will undoubtedly annihilate PP.
I had a good laugh when TPC issued a statement that they will be investigating PP. How many emails from these idiots did they receive that they had to make a statement in the hopes of shutting them up? There was no other suspect. Those guys were seriously triggered by Palworld's existence. So beautiful. (or sad, however you want to see it)
I actually had very little expectations for this game. The first trailer I saw, it looked like it didn't even know what it wants to be. But I was surprised that it turned out to be actually fun. What hooked me in is that it had base management that's comparable to Dragon Quest Builders. (I heard the game is on steam now if you're curious) Both involve you having to consider pathing and individual behaviors of Pals (villagers for DQB) to effectively make an efficient base.
I guess I really just enjoy this kind of gameplay. I also enjoy Pokemon. Impossible, I know.
Because of that, is more easy throw his angry here than going to nintendo and tell them to improve, because they did it in the past without result.
At the end, we enjoy the game with his flaws, hoping for the best but nintendo fanbase only have his angry and fustration with their dreams broken, for all of them, try to enjoy a new vision and gameplay, nothing lasts forever.
Pokemon is the Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest of RPG franchises.
But what do regular people care about any of this? If someone gets sued, you aren't getting any of it. Why are people upset about more good games for us, even if they are rip offs? If they stole enough of the design, then some courts will make them pay the people they took it from their share anyways.
What would even be the reason for the lawsuit if it happened? To my knowledge you cannot copyright specific lines, colors, shapes and styles. Just because a creature's eyes are similar to a Pokémon's eyes that doesn't mean that the same eye haven't been drawn a thousand times before Pokémon even existed.
That's pretty funny actually. People take this game and Pokémon way too seriously sometimes. I know these games mean a lot to a lot of people, but even if the Palworld Devs literally broke into the office of the Pokémon Devs and stole their designs that doesn't hurt the already existing or future Pokémon games. If anything Pokémon could learn from how the creatures in Palworld behave in the open world.
Same here. I was really surprised at how much fun the game is and you can actually play the entire thing coop unlike Pokémon.
True, people who call this Pokémon with guns probably haven't played the game, it's a survival game before anything else. I look at Palworld as if I'm playing Valheim, but instead of real life animals there are fantasy creatures around.
Some of them are paid to do this, some of them are brainwashed, others are mentally ill, so we shouldn't attack them or make fun of them, we should just ignore their attempts at negativity and let them sit in their own personal hell that they live in every day. They are doing this is to get a reaction out of people, so when they don't get that then it's torture for them, then all of their efforts become meaningless.
