Rush boar and forman skill issues.

I have been trying to test mining and logging forman skills but i have had little insite. Does the Pal have to be active to get the benefit, or is it enough just to have it in the party? There is no icon to show it is active like when using something like a warsec so i cannot tell if it is doing anything, and my damage numbers and mining amount does not seem to go up wether the pal is active or not. The only thing is i feels like i mine the deposite quicker when the pal is active. Any insites?

As for the rush boar, i had a save get corrupted. On that save i had a rush boar that was very good at charge mining. It was able to to take out most any deposite in 2 to 3 rushes, I don't think it was a great boar, it only had white skills, no condensing or upgrades. On game restart i went to get boars a quick as possible to save the annoying low durability of everything, but this boar took way too many charges to mine anything. Once i got a condenser and a breeding pen i spent a stupid amount of time breeding boar with 4 skills that raised the attack. I maxed out the boars skill in the condenser and put every soul into attack damage. Even then the boar took longer to mine a deposit than i did with a metal pickaxe. I am missing something with the rush boar? feels like it got a nerf i did not know about. I would have assumed that more attack power would = faster charge mining, but so far this boar does not seem to do much whether i am riding him or not.

just have it in party, the skills increase the dmg you do to the rocks or trees
