Best Fit for Bad base
Best pals for a rocky, uneven base high up on a mountain? I was using Helzephyrs, but they kept falling down the side of the mountain even after I jerry-rigged up some walls. Any advice? They need to carry a lot of little things, as this base has 3 pens with 4 in each so a lot of single drops.

avoid flying monsters.avoid big pals.try keep all of your base functions out of range of cliffs.even though they may be outside of cliff area the pal can still glitch outside of ring arena if the acess to the function is close to a cliff.
this includes beds.sleeping etc.
Also if its place you are stating there is still a bug where small pals clip into the ground and sink to bottom.
long story short it may seem like best area for mine ore and coal but its not good unless you keep retravel to check on certain things.

I have a feeling the place you're referring to is my main base :P
No this is a little flat area a bit north of it. Like in spitting distance. I wanted a flat area nearby I could keep loaded to farm the various drops of Lamball, Beegarde, etc. I'm definitely going to retire all my flying things asap.
if your base covers side of a cliff, just rebuild that base entirely cuz it causes so much issues.

So dont get me wrong.the flying pals are great.but i find they usually have transporting traits which causes problems because they tend to fly over the heads of your garden pals and then get perma stuck there.
it doesnt happen whole time just more if they end up same spot at same time it can cause them to bug out.

I'm in the process of breeding some Anubis to see if that fixes anything... Hopefully them having like 500 skills doesn't effect them carrying stuff. lol

depends.one thing about having multiple bases of course if you can have seperate bases doing different functions.
for example you can have your mining base just mining with beds and sauna.transport food from food base etc and just keep an eye on it.if you have grappling gun and chests nearby pal spawn you can take ore to otherbase and have it refined in other base.

Yeah if you can. You can try destroying the palbox with a V dismantle and rebuilding a few feet away to cover everything you care about, but avoiding the cliff / unwanted areas.

Things outside of base seem to degrade, not sure how fast, but it felt like slow the first day, then felt like 200-1000 ish durability damage a night or something. Completely out of butt / unmeasured that is.

There's probably a more precise way to measure, but if you don't protect things, your base might degrade important things so make sure everything you care about would be covered.

But press to dismantle, rebuild to avoid the cliff. You get back all resources. It's not too bad.

i feel like degradation was a big issue early game and probably is later on but obviouusly its tied down to how much time you spending in game at once.and also obviously if any of its attached to your base fortifcation at higher levels.

Due to Jormuntide getting stuck outside of walls, I turned off structure decay and moved the walls out of the circle entirely. So I don't have to worry about that.

don't know if this was patched in 0.4.0, but pals actually got stuck when they attempt to move out of the circle for w/e reason, so I had to build walls INSIDE the area to prevent them from "escaping".
i like lunaris, its small and somewhat fast when transporting

This was the exact opposite of me! I just occasionally found Jormuntide and a few of the other huge Pals just... Stuck outside. I had to open the gate to let them back in.

Ended up giving up. Cleaned up the base with a few rockets, butchered the idiots. ♥♥♥♥ cliffs.
Tetsuri Feb 18, 2024 @ 9:07pm
Oh. I don't find the stuck ones. If I see that they're hungry, I will go to the pal box, go to the last box(empty), move the stuck ones into the box, and then quick assign them back to the base.
