From a straight up DPS aspect, yes, the jets, shots, blasts, and bombs may be better options over the really big move.
Of course it depends on your situation though.
If you're fighting groups, having more aoe focused moves may be a better choice, even with the reduction in DPS.
Some moves because they're aoe may have better DPS because they can hit larger targets, like some bosses, multiple times.
Choose whatever moves suit your needs.
I usually have a variety on my mounts so that I can deal with most situations while mounted. A strong big move, an aoe move, and a fast spammable move.
Kind of more or the less the conclusion I came to. basically if you're out in the wild, variety is good, the big flashy moves are great for dealing with low level/herds of pals. But if you're Alpha/Boss hunting, its better to use and focus with the low attack spam
That is literally the exact opposite of what I'm talking about. Also while not stated in my initial post, I'm thinking more along the lines of mounted combat where I would have direct control over their skills. The main thing that debunks my whole concept is the fact that dismounting and mounted are on separate cool downs, meaning it doesn't matter to use the longer ones because you can use all three, dismount and let them use all 3 and then remount and your cool downs should be almost up if they aren't already
