Maxed out armor and attack with 3 Cativas, managed to win with 30 seconds to spare lol
Poison and Fire status do %HP damage based on max health, so the two crossbows that can do both, plus a decent grappling hook to help boost my dodge distance were really key for me, until I got stronger and it became less a battle of attrition. But you really feel those timers in the last couple tower fights. There is also a bug I just recently discovered, where if you fire Pengullet out of its bazooka, and very quickly switch to another Pal, Pengullet will be invisble up in the sky, raining down its abilities as they come off cool down, while your other Pal is out fighting. Giving it big arc attacks like Icicle Cutter, or some attacks that can help build up poison / burn as the boss status resist builds each cycle can also speed things up. I beat each thing the fair / normal way the first time around, but afterwards I have ZERO guilt about cheesing lol.
I can tell the tower fights were intended to be kind of like raid instances for guilds, but since they don't drop loot, I just avoid them after getting that first kill, since I'm hermit mode, in my little communist Pal regime.
Didn't feel like going back to check to see how much damage the poison status was really doing. So more of a "might be worth a shot, or not, who knows?"
And yeah I'm 100% sure it does % max health damage, though I'm not gifted with math enough to provide any sort of exact formula. Since you've already beaten it it may or not be worth it, but you can always experiment on other bosses and test to see what you think.
