Banning people in discussion. Idk lol. I cuss out people a lot so I can't say xD. Red has seen it. I've seen him around a lot since I became active on the forums. I'm all for free speech but I guess it depends. Heated debate with the 2 guys cussing at each other - Let them duke it out. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the fireworks. Someone coming into the forums to post about another game or solicit advertising - Ban them 100%
It is exactly for this distribution in China is hard. It's why Blizzard now uses Steam China for all their games now because NetEase deal went sour after many years.
Anyways so far yeah, it seems just for the china servers, since in that place you sadly have to make a deal with the devil to get stuff online running properly there
However, if you don't give Tencent any edge in game development (Bucky specifically stated that they did NOT give Tencent any control over the game's development in ANY way) and they're still interested in your success, they will do just that; invest.
That's what Tencent does in the west. They simply invest. If a developer is stupid enough to give them power to abuse, they will abuse it, because their bottom line is more important than anyone else's, thas how business works if you're dealing with corporate psychos.
If what Bucky said is 100% true, no fancy nuance or mental gymnastics to bend words like pretzels, Tencent will not negatively influence this game whatsoever. The stigma around Tencent always will, but I'm sure this devteam knows that.
Locking threads that discuss it however, is not how you deal with that. Ban people that infringe on the rules, don't nuke their entire thread just because it's convenient. If you want to make a mountain out of a molehill, nuking threads discussing it is the best way to draw unwanted attention.
anti-campaigns are a thing. disinformation as well. journalists aim for click-baits, write what brings the most attention and twist the truth.
unless you are a businessmen that has inter-corporate knowledge of those companies, as well as global business knowledge, viable and credible sources, you cant know things, and it's just hearsay of low relevance.
That particular moderator used the word "we" which is not something a moderator typically does unless they're involved. Not going to quote the whole thing, the same sentence is marked as the answer in that locked thread if you want to read it.
I'll take it at face value cuz it's his reputation, so he loses if he's being dishonest, I don't lose anything, I've got popcorn, butter and all. Though I'd like to hold onto hope that this game won't be on one of those "another one" compilations, I do really like Palworld and wish to see it thrive.
If Steam users break the forum rules then Valve employees step in and just shut it down.
Not much we can do there.
The thread that was locked about an hour ago was locked by me because it completely derailed into a political argument claiming China was "the enemy". You are free to discuss these things in a calm and constructive way but if things reach a point where it is just arguing and naming other countries as "the enemy" then naturally, the threads will be locked.
Feel free to contact me over Discord or email the company directly and I'll reply back there if it makes you feel more comfortable. Alas, on Steam we all just have "community moderator" perms due to how the Steam forums work.
I'm just telling the truth. It's a vicious business organization under the control of the regime that collects all kinds of information by any means to train AI and steal all kinds of information from all over the world.
I really don't understand why the Japanese government allowed Pocketpair to sign a contract with such a terrible company.
There may be only some people in China in the world who think Tencent is good... About Tencent
This is not just a problem within China...
Asia is not just China... there are many other countries. Does Palworld only have Chinese players?
The most unwise decision Pocketpair made was to cooperate with the monster Tencent...
I really hope Pocketpair isn't so blind as to let them interfere with game affairs or content, because this will be devastating to Palworld...
"We partnered with Tencent Cloud to provide community servers, primarily in China."
You where told that in your previous thread.
Yes, I really hope that's the case... I really hope that's just the case...
But this is what Yahoo News said:
"Tencent said that they will use Tencent Cloud's lightweight application server Lighthouse in Japan, the United States, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand... to allow players around the world to have more fun. Players only need to spend 3 In just seconds, you can set up your own dedicated server without any complicated operations."
How many countries does this include? Isn't it?
The game dev Bucky has already states that this is only for China and only them
It has already be stated that they are only in a partnership with Tencent for servers only, there is no way an Indie company that just made millions is willing to let themselves be aquired by other larger company, unless they are strapped for cash then we can expect the boycotting and refunds within the next hours
We outsiders are given a chance to use Tencent if we want to or go and find another company that will host servers.
