New Pal condensing is good! But not great...
It's in fact the opposite of what it mentions in the patch notes.

I find it saves a lot of space being able to condense pals and then used the condensed pals again and recycle those souls into a new Pal. However, it still doesn't work exactly as you think it should.

For the first level, it takes 4 of the same pals as normal. That 1* pal is 5 pals worth if you condense it into another pal. The base pal and the 4 sacrifices count as the 5 pals. A 2* pal has the souls of 21 pals right? The base pal, 4 pals for the first star, and 16 pals for the second star. Technically it has 20 souls infused into it but that's not important regarding the point of starred pals being used as sacrifices for other pals. If you sacrifice the 2* to power up another pal, it provides only 17 souls instead of 21 as expected. It counts the 16 sacrifices to go from 1* > 2*, and then the base pal, for a total of 17. The 4 pals from the previous level are just erased out of existence. So as I mentioned earlier, it's in fact the opposite of what the patch notes say, which mention higher starred pals provide even more points when used as material.

That's not the worst of it though. Say you've already spent hours upon countless hours breeding a pal and build it up to 4*. Some time later, you come across better resources and get a better pal than what you had before. You want to sacrifice that 4* pal and infuse it into your new one right? After all, that's the whole point of being able to infuse pals with pals that have already been infused, right? Sorry, doesn't work that way. You still have to go through each star level individually. Whether you use a 1*, 2*, 3*, or 4* on your new, better pal, it'll still only get up to 1*.

So the most efficient way to use the new changes is to ignore the new mechanics altogether (which defeats the purpose of the change), since infusing in any way incurs losses and to continuing saving up 117 pals before you get a 4*. However, infusing up to 1* is the best way to minimize loss if you're in need of box space.

I don't know if this the way the devs intended it to work, but if it is, it's not as good as you would think it would be. I can only hope this changes again in the future.

That's a rather concerning oversight, yes.
