A Note on Pal Breeding - Stud Pals, and Pal Creeds
I have posted some of this previously in comments here on Steam, Youtube and elsewhere on the internet, but I figured why not patch it together in one place..

Stud Pals - The Humble Chikapi

When it comes to selecting your stuff Pals, you can not go wrong with the Chikapi. Abundant throughout the map, and at an extremely low level, they are very easy to obtain, and you will have little trouble in collecting up enough of them to breed out a pair of studs for each Creed.

The main reason we want to work with the Chikapi, is that can potentially breed into almost every other Pal type. There are a few exceptions (such as the 4 Legendary Pals, and a couple unique Pals that can only breed with themselves) but for the most part Chikapi can get the job done, either directly or through chain breeding.

Why a Pair?

It is statistically easier to breed two Pals with 2 traits into one Pal with 4 traits than it is to breed 1 Pal with 4 traits into one Pal with 4 traits. Inheriting traits from both parents appears to be more effective than trying to inherit from one parent, even if the second parent is a blank Pal with zero traits.

So breeding up 2 studs with the desire traits, then breeding those with blank Pals for the parents of the child Pal you require is the most effective option. Yes, the blank will likely throw in some RNG traits, but in a small batch (I do lots of 6) you will likely get at least one pure result that can be used for the parent.

Those parents can then be bred to get your desired Pal. This will take more attempts than the parent Pals, often between 12-24 or more if you fail to pray to RNGesus.

Pal Creeds

There are multiple creeds of Pal one needs for around their base, and in their team as each task uses different aspects of the Pal's potential. These will be the child Pals you will be a breeding for. Through extensive testing, I came up with the following creeds:

Crafter Pal (Team Slot 5)

The Crafter Pal is your "go-to" Pal, who will be sent out to craft for you, so it's key passives focus on building and handicraft. The Crafter Pal allows building temporary structures in the field. Fighting Platforms, Storage boxes for dungeon looting, stair access etc

Key Passives
Artisan (Work Speed +50%)
Workaholic (Sanity Drop 15% slower)
Diet Lover (-15% Hunger)- less food consumed in team

Alternatives
Lucky (Work Speed +15%, Attack +15%) - useful as combat backup
Swift (+30% Movement Speed) - general and combat movement speed
Work Slave (+30% Work Speed, -30% attack) - double up on workload

Combat Pal (Team Slot 1)

The Combat Pal is your main Pal who will be sent out fighting with you, so it's key Passives focus on buffing it's combat prowess. Great Combat Pals are those that also provide a unique buff to the player, such as combat boost, elemental attacks, or speed bonus.

Satellite Pals (Slots 2-4)

Satellite Pals are optional additions to your Pal Team. They compete with Support Pals, but have the advantage of being in battle alongside the main combat Pal. As such, their build should similar to Combat Pals.

Key Passives
-Legend (Attack +20%, Defence +20%, Movement Speed increases 15%) - combat focused
-Swift (+30% Movement Speed) - combat movement speed
-Burly Body (+20% Defence)- static defence buff

Alternatives
-Musclehead (Attack +30%, -50% Work Speed) - static attack buff
-Ferocious (+20 Attack) - static attack buff
-Diet Lover (-15% Hunger Loss) - less wasted time eating
-Celestial Emperor (Normal +20%)- affect elemental attack power
-Divine Dragon (Dragon +20%)- affect elemental attack power
-Lord of Lightning (Electric +20%)- affect elemental attack power
-Lord of the Underworld (Dark +20%)- affect elemental attack power
-Spirit Emperor (Grass +20%)- affect elemental attack power
-Flame Emperor (Fire +20%)- affect elemental attack power

Support Pal (Team Slots 2-4)

Support Pals are optional for your team. They compete with Support Pals, but have the advantage of providing passive support for the player. Great Support Pals are those that provide additional services, such as a mount, extra carry weight, or buffs.

Key Passives
Stronghold Strategist (Player Defence 10%) - Player support
Mining Foreman (Player Mineral Boost 25%)- Player support
Logging Foreman (Player Lumber Boost 25%) - Player support

Alternatives
Diet Lover (-15% Hunger) - less food consumed in team
Vanguard (Player Attack 10%) - Player support
Motivational Leader (Player Work Boost 25%) - Player support
Swift (+30% Move) - use for mounts only, increases travel and combat movement speed

Farmer Pal (Base Pals)

Farmer Pals grow, and care for crops on your base. They may also perform additional tasks, such as hauling and crafting if the Pal in question has those work skills. Keep this in mind when building your base, and put some distance between your farms and the ranch.

Worker Pal

Worker Pals perform other tasks such as cooking, forging, milling, and assembly line work. They are very similar to Farmer Pals in this regard, but with different focus. Specific workers Pals such as a cooler for example, may substitute Swift for another passive without issue, since it does not need to travel to perform it's task.

Key Passives
Artisan (Work Speed +50%) - increased work pace
Workaholic (Sanity Drop 15% slower) - less wasted time goofing off
Swift (+30% Movement Speed) - less travel time

Alternatives
Lucky (Work Speed +15%, Attack +15%) - useful for raid defence
Diet Lover (-15% Hunger) - less wasted time eating
Work Slave (+30% Work Speed, -30% attack) - double up on workload

Rancher Pal (Base Pals)

Rancher Pals "work" exclusively in the ranch. They will always prioritise this over other tasks, unless you have more on your base than the Ranch can support (a ranch will support 4 Pals). Ranchers provide drop item spawns - a set value that can only be increased by upgrading the Pal, so work speed here is useless. Sanity, and Hunger loss is also greatly reduced (if there is any at all) so the only real priority passive they have is movement speed, as they scurry back and forth to their beds.

Key Passives
Swift (+30% Movement Speed) - less travel time

Optional
Runner (+20% Movement Speed)
Workaholic (Sanity Drop 15% slower)
Diet Lover (-15% Hunger) - less wasted time eating

Please note that there are some weaker options not listed here (such as Nimble for +10% Movement Speed) and in the case of Rancher Pals this may be a decent option, but for the most part, the passives that are listed should out-value these weaker options.

Isn't it Flopie that has the scavenging skill? I don't recall Ribunny doing anything like that unless I missed it.

This is some delicious info. Why not use this as a base to make a steam guide on the matter?

Could do I suppose, might do that at a later point

All I did was copy paste the sections, but here is this post now in Guide form XD
