I am guessing you did not back up the save file?
Sorry that it has to come from a dumb webpage with ads and such but....
https://gamerant.com/palworld-how-recover-lost-save-data/
Unless you're using a dedicated server I think you should be able to recover it from the backups. Palworld does make backups of your world regularly in the save folder so it should be as simple as navigating there and restoring the latest backup files. I'm not sure if a corrupt save just means the world doesn't appear in the menu but I'd see if the folder with your world still exists. If not then you may have to hope you have cloud saves enabled if you're using Steam and just restore it that way.
Thank you for the help, I was able to retrieve my world.
Its not the game or the devs fault you had a power cut.
I encounter the same power surge issue from time to time (sometimes 6h straight ok, sometimes power down every hour, very weird, I even had my computer checked but nothing)
but back on saves :
just disable steam cloud backup. (it's important not for steam to import its corrupt save (if any) when launching the game
then if by any bad luck you encounter a corrupted save, just take the most recent (name is date and time) within :
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\steamID\BIGHEXANUMERICTHING\Backup
FIRST : BACK UP THE ALL FILES (copy/paste it anywhere in case you make a mistake from now , you can still restart from now).
and then in both local & world dossier (if you play singleplayer), just delete the most recent one (but only this one dossier in each)
then load the game and the last previous non corrupted save should appear.
if not, on map select clic in left down corner on "restore a backsave" and select not the most recent (which doesn't show) but the one before that (it should be about 1mn before), select it and restore.
it should now be ok, and you only lost about 1mn or 2 of gameplay (auto saves are really frequent in this game, especially when you achieve something)
but in any case so far the main rule is : if back up saves don't exist when selecting the option to restore them, then delete the most recent save from both local & world dossier (in SinglePlayer, I don't know for server)
the same workaround I mentionned before should work, just prevent steam cloud, delete that corrupted save in all location and it should be ok
Learn to make manual back-ups so you don't lose everything.
Seems like people don't know what a UPs is for and why they should own one for their electronics, especially computers.
I've had many a game lose data and had to restart. I'm gaming so it is my spare time and I consider it unproductive anyways. It is a pita though.
teach me a way to make a backsave the moment a computer just power down. I would love to know it....because of course you can anticipate it....
just read before responding plz. the problem is not about making back-ups, it's about how to get rid of a corrupted one which keeps dl from steam for ex.
you are obviously speaking without having encountered the problem, and when it happens (I hope you not honestly) you'll be back here...
The game saves in intervals so use an older save they aren't that far apart. Don't know how Google is your friend.
Also you lost power in which case your UPS should give you 5 or 10 minutes to shut things down properly. Don't know what a ups is then you shouldn't be running a computer. If you pc just shut down with no power outage then you have a problem else where.
Not to mention
I don't need experience with a possible problem to know the fix or how to avoid said problem.
Good luck anyways.
INDEED ...
BUT you seem to strangely forget ... that ... ITS THEIR FAULT FOR NOT HAVING A BETTER SAVE AND SAFETY SYSTEMS !
You know being a fanatic doesn't help anyone right ?
Now lets chill a bit and admit that there is at least ways to recover the game and that the dev themself putted it out.
Keep being an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and a lofty ass truly good job by being out of touch :) !
Sad becayse in between the pointless rudeness you had a decent advice piece at hand shame that you feel the need to waste it :).
Also SURPRISE having "ups" isn't common who could have guessed and second of course in the CASE OF THIS THREAD it doesn't help :) !
And to finish with a last but not least important thing no sorry but in 2024 you shouldn't have to be manually fking doing backupq each seconds rofl the dev should make a system for that.
No, this is your fault for not having an UPS.
Blaming the devs for errors that occur when the game is not shut down properly is weird.
Shut the game down properly, and the issue is solved.
