Gold Making Compared
I compared the value output of the following, each base utilizng 16 workers:

Baked Berries: 27.68 per minute, Total Gold: 276.8 gold/minute
Wool: 24.27 per minute, Total Gold: 242.7 gold/minute
Bags of Gold: 11.2 per minute, Total Gold: 112 gold/minute
Cotton Candy: 15.3 per minute, Total Gold: 382.5 gold/minute

The Bags of cold were created by Mau Cryst, each Mau was bred to have at least one "Artisan" Passive.

Wool, cotton candy and baked berries were random assortment of pals and passive skills.

BBerries, Wool, Bag of Gold worth 10 gold
Cotton Candy worth 25 gold

Findings:

Cotton Candy is the most effective value producer. It also weighs alot less then wool so less likely to be encumbered, and doesnt need the extra step to be baked like the berries

I just go and hunt the alpha bosses on a circuit...I don't keep exact track of time or money made, but when I finish a few alphas and go sell off loot, I generally get a little over 100k.

I mean, its probably not as efficient as these "money making farms" but I've never been hurting for money and I feel like alpha hunting is pretty engaging over just having farms for money.

I guess you can do both, but I really can't find a need for money so much that I need to dedicate a portion of a base just to raise funds

Interesting, most artisans are pretty slow, had no idea cotton candy was so productive but did notice next to 100-180g nails i was getting 5000s from berries every 10000 from ore nails i made!

Artisan doesn't impact ranching related goods nearly as much. It only effects the animation that drops the item. Long story short, min-maxing wollipops, lambals, cows, or chickens doesn't return that much. Min-maxing waters and planters on the other hand is a pretty flat increase. You'd just need adequate amounts of crop plots to make up for the upgrades. Two maxed out lyleens and a maxed out jormuntide for example would probably yield 4x of what you recorded probably. While maxed out wollipops would be a 1.25-1.5x increase.

The other thing to note, the berries can easily end up occasionally yielding 10k passive xp when it comes to cooking the 9999 berries you occasionally get. The lower the save file or server's xp rates, the more advantageous the xp is.

so far nails is still the best money maker and you can do this on a second mine base. nocturnal pals are recommended for a second base. your only job is bring the food, turn ore into ingot and turn ingot to nail. no need to overly manage a second base.
Wait, people make money from selling stuff? I've been just killing Black Marketeers.

Those guys are for selling Pals. Trade goods are from Travelling Merchants.

You're right about Artisan but I will add Condensing for Stars improves Ranching

killing black marketeers can easily make you 50k gold in less than 5 minutes if you know where most of them are

You don't even have to know where most are, there is one in the eastern side of the map in a little cave nook that if you fly a little east to where it gives you a "new region" notification, I want to see its the verdant area even though its pretty volcanic in that one spot? Anyway, you go back and forth between the cave and that other area and he respawns over and over. Saves you a lot of time traveling

Work Speed does almost nothing for ranch, however higher level partner skills increase the drops. This is not linear scaling as it is a drop chance increase.
EX: Chikipi
0-star drops 1 egg every 20-30 seconds
1-star about a 50% chance to drop 2
2-star about 25% for 3 50% for 2
ect.
At max stars farming will go up a rank in work suitability. There is speculation that decreasing the spawn timer by about 5 seconds, but i have not seen evidence of it myself

To be clear about work speed, this only effect things with a loading bar (so to speak) farming, crafting, but notably logging and mining are only useful at the logging camp and stone pit. AFK ore miners get more benefit from attack damage increases

Things like dainty eater are nice but are ultimately less valuable than things like cheery, as nocturnal Pals work all night and don't use beds, so food and hot springs are the only way to keep their san high. This combines well with foods (mushroom soup, and later PIZZA) that decrease hunger build-up and can be filled in at your choice and discretion.

Vanwyrm Cryst is the only nocturnal chiller to keep your fridge cold all night (see previous tip to keep him happy)

Sibelyx makes HQ cloth at ranch for 40G a pop, its the fastest AFK money farm

I don't think it's a good test if you're using just "a random assortment of pals and passive skills" for one, and then specifically artisan for others.

artisan doesn't effect ranch pals in any meaningful capacity.

Do different pals produce them at different rates?

I initially thought that as well! But grazing isnt affected by work speed. So matching all the pals to "artisan" would have just made baked berries output even greater.

If your curious, i actually did do an output test for baked berries using high end pals.

it was an arrangement of 40 berry plantations, checkered with 9 feed-boxes.

This allowed the workers to never walk more then a few steps to store berries or eat.
All Workers had "serious" and or "artisan" perk:
4 azurobe
6 Petallia
2 Anubis
1 Jormuntide Ingnis

Server Settings adjusted as followed for test:

Pal Hunger Depletion: 0.5
Day Speed: 1
Night Speed 2
All other settings default

Results:

Berry Growing Rate: 137.1 berries per minute
Berry Baking Rate: 334.84 berries per minute
Time to Grow 9,999 Berries: Approximately 72.9 minutes (1 hour and 13 minutes)
Time to Bake 9,999 Berries: Approximately 29.87 minutes (29 minutes and 52 seconds)
Total Time to Grow and Bake 9,999 Berries: Approximately 102.77 minutes (1 hour and 43 minutes)
Overall Rate (Growing and Baking): Approximately 97.3 baked berries per minute

Granted, this data is only relevant to my world settings but thought it was fun so i shared!

Currently best farm is Berries, Bake them for increased profits, then while you're off in the world do a circuit around the map with a fast flying pal and the fast travel stations and kill all the black marketeers and collect about 30-34k gold and 3 gold keys. they respawn so it's of no consequence.

to speed your farm times up, simply use your best pals for planting, watering and kindling. which if combined will be 5*'s.
