Please remove the speed reduction when carrying too many items.
All the other penalties are fine, no jumping or sprinting makes for a good trade for carrying too many things but the speed reduction makes it a pain to move items inside your base, redecorate, or get anything done in general.

Especially when a single item consists of hundreds of ingots, you destroy that one little thing and suddenly you can't move anymore. So please, just keep the other penalties while allowing us to move at regular speed.

I know we currently have mods to deal with that, but devs, if you are reading this I would love to see some of these QoL mods being made into actual game features.

Wow now, hold your horses. I wouldn't give up a berry seed even if my base was on fire.

Grappling hook, some rideable pals let you use attacks that move you forward, the direhowl is pretty good at this but the purple deer is not, his movement attack is slowed down. I personlly just keep a chest in the area I go to get anything, I have a place to farm every mat, Its really not an issue if you look for ways to make it not an issue. Here is a tip too, the direhowls fang attack (the one I use for movement) will show numbers if you attack a built structure but even though it shows damage numbers it does no damage, at least in your base and that attack is on a very low CD, its about as fast as sprinting without being weighed down, no matter how much you have on you the fang attack is always going to be a quick option to get back unless they patch it.

I have +1000 in weight limit so if I had 100 ingot I'd drop half then run to a box and put them, get the rest and put them in the box.

If I farm ore near a fast travel I farm them near my limit, drop them close to the fast travel point, farm the rest of ore, pick the drop ore, fast travel to base, put stuff in the box near my palbox.

Easy.

I specifically designed my base with overhanging roofs to take advantage of my grapple hook's physics-defying ability to send me careening at terminal speed from point A to point B in mind. A few overhanging roofs with walls to crash into at your storage boxes will do wonders for your mobility during base renovations.

Also, for all that they're fairly small compared to the refined metal chests, the shipping containers are excellent to have for this reason. And they stack.

Do you all realize that these are just bandaids you came up with to deal with a problem right? I know about them, but it doesn't change the fact that the speed reduction is a problem even if you have ways around it.

Why are you all speaking as if it is a good thing to be slowed down to a crawl when moving things around your base?

Besides, if the point is to be "realistic" then the grappling hook shouldn't work when above the weight limit, and neither should pals movement skills. Isn't it fine to have all other penalties but keep our movement speed normal?

Use the grapling hooks. They ignore the weight penalties and launch you forward without issue.

you could just level weight limit a lot and not go over rather then go over the limit and complain about the movement penalty... Its really not an issue also it might change, the game is in EA...

Of course. But expecting a developer to slash encumbrance penalties is optimistic at best. They almost never do that sort of thing; for that matter, they almost never actually read or engage on their steam forums. In their infinite pettiness and stupidity, valve actually advises developers not to.

When something's not going to change, you either endure or you figure out workarounds.

A lot of things can be customised in the world settings. The devs should simply add a option to disable or change the encumberance penalties. Would make everyone happy.

Nah. I really disagree. Especially since there are SO MANY ways around it via the in-game mechanics if you for some reason find yourself really in a bind with it. Even without that I dont mind being forced to a slow crawl when I take on too much weight. I feel like it balances out the fact that you can stack 9999 iron in a single inventory slot quite nicely.

I mean to be fair they did at one point. Used to be if you took on too much weight you couldnt move AT ALL. But I think where we are now is a good middle ground.

Agreed but people are people, that means they complain about everything... Thank god devs ignore people like that, if not fromsoft games would have easy modes... Disgusting.

Nah, they're in-game solutions to intentionally designed game obstacles.
