honey not being transported why?
my honey guy keeps popping out honey like crazy, but none of my transport pals wanna put it in the fridge. they pick up the eggs, they pick up the milk, they pick up all the crops.

the fridge is set as the only storage in my base that will accept ingredients, which honey is classed as.

this doesn't happen in my other base; just tried dropoping some honey there, it got moved just fine.

bug, i guess? i've had this for a while now, it's neither specific to one beeguarde, not to any specific transporter pals, nor to one fridge; it persisted through my upgrade from cooler box to fridge just recently. seems specific to the base... somehow.

My guess is that they deliberately do not put honey in the fridge because honey does not expire. It's frustrating if you want a fridge to be the only destination for ingredients, but in my mind this is much more preferable to having pals automatically fill up a fridge with stuff the fridge has no effect on, taking away space for things you do actually need it for.

The best solution would be to make this some kind of checkbox that toggles whether the fridge can accept food that doesn't go off.

oh, ok that makes some logical sense i guess. sort of. except... there's no way to get Just permanent ingredient items like honey, into a not fridge, while ingredients that expire are put into a fridge, right?

by which i mean, if i want honey to get picked up, i'd have to designate a regular chest to accept ingredients... and then my helpful and loveable minions would definitely put milk and eggs into that box, at least some of the time, right? there's no way to make a chest accept honey, and not accept milk and eggs, and wheat and flour and etc etc, right?

maybe for the cooler box, yes, but the fridge has space for every ingredient item, and like, a dozen more slots extra. it has space. do they think I'm storing random food in there or something? stocking up on food with a giant (lol) 20% attack buff for when i go bossing? I'm not. :steamsad:

In general this game desperately needs a system of filtering items. Pals are absolutely terrible at transporting stuff, I really want to be able to set a container to whitelist or blacklist specific items - not just categories - so that the pals will follow my sorting system and won't clog up space with many tiny stacks of different items instead of filling up existing stacks - this happens ALL THE TIME in my bases and is especially bad in the early game when you can only get small containers.

The ability to transport directly to processing stations would be nice too - it'd cut out a whole lot of tedium if I could make my wheat automatically milled into flour, and I'd especially like to be able to set a continuous order for producing a given food item as long as the ingredients are available. This game is lacking automation in a few key areas that makes base management more tedious than it has to be, this is kind of inexcusable as almost every other game with features like this has this ability.

In the absence of a real filtering/sorting system my suggestion would be to make the fridge closer and then put a chest that can accept items somewhat further away. Pals generally only transport items to the closest container, and if the fridge is closer they SHOULD only put perishable food in there and not the chest.

I set up a kinda hack job filter of my own. i put down a wooden chest, and filled its 10 slots with 1 singular honey unit each. since i overproduce honey anyway, it's a solved problem, I guess, though I personally do not like it

I kinda looked and disnt see if you figured it out, just put any crate next to or even in the ranch. They will put the honey in that box.

iirc pals automatically sort perishables into the fridge when one is availiable. only if there is no fridge in the base they will put perishables into normal boxes. that was already the case before the sorting update.

The sorting needs a touch more work. I've resorted to modding out the timers until it gets a bit better.

problem is like with most food items honey is both a food and ingrdient same as berries and wheat.

Ah, there it is... Well, that's inconvenient. I'd rather deal with spoilage than despawning.
