Does anybody call Pal's by there actual names?
Unlike Pokemon, Pal's names are hard to remember, so I just call them by the species the represent. Not sure why you wouldn't do the same, because who actually takes the time to learn every individual creatures' name?

If you can remember the 1000+ Pokemon names, memorizing the <150 Pal names should be a piece of cake :bea:

Actual names. They are not hard to remember at all.

I call them whatever my initial thought of them are. Anubis is discount lucario, Jormuntide is just gyarados, Jolthog is sanic, etc

I call all but one by their name, dinossom I always call dragon, not sure why but it's the name that stuck.

I use their given names, for the most part.
I didn't take any time to learn the names. I never sat down with a list and memorized them by rote like a school assignment.
I just took time to play the game. The learning the names happened passively.

I call most of them their actual names. The only one I regularly call the incorrect name is "Alolan Ninetails/Threetails" (Foxcicle) and OCCASIONALLY Grass Cinderace (Verdash).

I give the ones I use often names those who go to the condenser have no designation. My fav so far is my Gorirat Kong and my Beakon Burd. I have a Beegarde Beeatrice... Toco named Dkburd... you know the cheesiest names possible so I can remember them. I even have some really generic names like Paul and Steve or Betty. Just depends on the day.

Nah, I named my Pacifist Vanwyrm as Volkswagen T-Roc and I call him T-Roc all the time. I also named my Jetragon some Mercedes model, and call it Merc.

I agree, their original names are hard to remember.

Seriously? Most of them are just portmanteaus of what that monster is based on (e.g. Chillet is "chill" + "ferret", Depresso is "depression" + "espresso", Helzephyr is "Hell" + "zephyr" etc), it's even more on-the-nose than Pokémon that frequently mixes in other languages ("pika" + "chu", legendary bird trio, etc)

I still call it digi-toise even though I know it isn't called that
Tetsuri Mar 2, 2024 @ 8:33am
isn't it harder to try to figure out wdf a Grizzbolt represents than just calling it a Grizzbolt?

one of the more memorable pals, just because everyone spends hours in that scorching desert searching one
